I guess it's just me, but I have seen his movies and I just take what I want from them and leave the rest on the table.

I look at his movies as a lecture by a professor (yes, I know he isn't as educated before everyone goes off), I will usually go and research what he talks about if I don't get it, if it sounds ridiculous or I don't understand it. I find I agree with him here and there, but his movies provoke thought, which I think is a good thing. It may be thought that you disagree with, but then if that's how you feel, then forget what you watched and move on.

That's the way people, at least in my opinion, should view him (much like I do sports radio, PTI, Around the Horn).

And I too feel that is agent is a genius b/c as they say "Any publicity is good publicity"

There have been several reports that Moore is looking for a different distributor.

As he should. This will hit the streets in one way or another sooner rather than later.

...and it will get a bigger audience than it ever would have if it had been released without a controversy. Between this and the Franken book eventually the conservative bigwigs will realize the left has learned to use the "right wing conspiracy to silence them" as a very successful marketing tool.

Love the sig, Grimis. :-)

I'm not so sure. See I think he's going to step over that line one of these times and even his followers will go WHOA that guy is nuts. Maybe he'll do it in this movie. One can only hope.

Ok dwaters, here is your Michael Moore-ized quote.

Even if you don't agree with him, you have to admire his passion for the causes he belives in. It takes a lot of balls for Bin Laden to promote his agenda to hold politicians accountable.

Spliced together several of your posts and made them into something that paints you in a completely different light. That was pretty easy. Maybe I can go make anti-American propoganda movies now.

Well, I think that takes care of one example of Moore's falsification of the trutm.

Ya got me, kazhayashi81.
Kind of reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer drives home the babysitter and somehow is accused of sexual harrassment. They edit the new piece to say "her sweet can" when he's saying something about "sweet candy".

Politics aside, I just find the style of guys like Michael Moore and Al Franken much more entertaining than Rush Limbaugh.
I try to give him a chance, but he just goes on and on about how right he is, how great he is, with "talent on loan from God". I suppose it's meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but I can never tell.

I can agree that Franken at times has been incredibly fun. His first major book(Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot) was just awesome. I loved it. Lately though he's taken things a bit far and seems to be obsessed now. I still think he can be funny, but just not like he used to be.

Moore is a completely different animal in my view. I see him and Rush as very similar actually. They are both horrible liars who are close minded and couldn't care less about the truth.

At least now you've seen some examples of how Moore does things, and it seems to have had an impact. A report I read today said that Moore, after saying Disney sprung this on him a few days before the film festival, has now admitted he knew a year ago they would not put out his film. I think it's clear that while he's a liar, he is indeed very good at knowing how to play a situation to get as much attention as possible on himself.

I guess each side of the political spectrum gets to have it's wackos.

About the only merit I really give this guy is that is is giving another perspective on topics that are beaten into the ground by the "other side."

Granted he can be just as hypocritical and extreme, but he does give the opposite side of the fallacies.

I personally think that somewhere between wackos like Moore and wackos like, well, I guess the current arch nemesis would be the Bush Admin, lies the truth.

But that's just me.

Yeah, even with my right-wing leanings "Big Fat Idiot" is just great. It actually sits next to Rush's books on my bookshelf (on the left side of them, naturally).
