| #1 Posted on 25.4.04 0107.11 Reposted on: 25.4.11 0109.48 | I was going over some old tapes and came across the Hogan mega crowd ovations from a couple years ago. The crowd was insane cheering for Hogan for at least 10 minutes straight on that Smackdown show. It was the most exciting, bizzare moment I had seen at that time. It got me to wonder if anyone ever in the history of WWE ever gotten that type of response? I know Austin and Rock have gotten great ovations, but compared to the ones Hogan had in 2002-03 it's not even in the same ballpark. Promote this thread! | | Tribal Prophet

I'm talking about when Bischoff had him off tv for months and the crowd would chant "We Want Flair" off and on during the live airings until Eric finally gave in and brought him back.
ps. There's something spooky about being in the building during one of those Hogan ovations too...

This is not the same, but the biggest and longest boos I've ever heard involved Mick. The HHH vs. Cactus Jack No Way Out HiaC match. The one were Foley would have to retire, and he feel from the cage into the ring. That crowd was genuinely pissed! | Y2J 420

Benoit got a huge ovation following his match with Angle at the Royal Rumble two nights before, I think its the first time a WWE crowd gave him any sign of repsect.
But I really can't of any in WWE/F that was that long, Thank god he had to wrestle. | FleaDude

- Edge/Christian/Hardys (Raw-The day after the first ever tag team ladder match @ no mercy 99)
- Chris Benoit received those standing ovations more then once and the response he got @ Backlash wasn´t too silent as well!
Another extremely loud pop:
- Bret Hart (@ IYH-Canadian Stampede)

What's remarkable is that the standing ovation got its own chapter and title on the Royal Rumble 2003 DVD. | too-old-now

But that wasn't Hogan, it was his "good friend, Mr. America"
Hogan's ovations were deserved. To most fans, he was what put wrestling on the map. He was always a face, as most of Vince's fans never gave a damn about WCW. He was an idol, we simply wouldn't let him be a heel with Nash and the NWO - and even the Rock's attempts to help get him over as a heel were not bought by the fans.

I think Eddie got a bigger reaction when he appeared in El Paso with the US title. He entered through the crowd and the place just erupted. | Jakegnosis

He deserved worse. I've hated Hulk Hogan since I first saw him, and I'll hate him until the day I die. He's one of the least talented wrestlers ever to step in the ring, and his popularity is inexplicable to me. I hope he never shows up on WWE tv ever again. | mercer

Do yourself a favor and rent some Hogan from Japan, he could work back in the day. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
