I have been contemplating downloading, ooops, I meant buying some pixies music. What songs should I look for? I just want to see what the hype is all about.

I'd say "Death to The Pixies" sums it up nicely.

I'm more of a fan of Trompe Le Monde and Surfer Rosa myself. Gigantic, Bone Machine, Where Is My Mind? (the song from the end of Fight Club), UMass, Bird Dream of the Olympus Mons, Speed Equals Rate Times Time.

Don't worry about where to start. Just get it all

Everybody's got their favorite Pixies album, but few will spend any time arguing that any of their albums aren't up to snuff.

Well I downloaded a few songs, and most are okay, nothing outstanding. Thanks for all the input!

"Where is My Mind" or "Gigantic" is probably there most "accessible" song...maybe you should start with one of those Stagger.

Those two and the one from the Pump up The Volume soundtrack were the three I liked. Most the other stuff I heard didnt impress me at all. Not a BAD band, but just not my cup of tea. Its hard to slowly try to broaden my horizons musically when I have definate things I like and things I dont. I thank everybody for thier help though.

Since i havent bought any "new" music in years, any other suggestions. I listen to mainly radio friendly rock.

They have a brand spanking new "Best Of" disk coming out next month...I only have a handful of their songs on various mixes folks have given me, so I`m waiting for the new Best Of.

Nimrod's Son is a personal favorite. I also love Caribou and Dig for Fire.
