This is my first post to this site, and I hope you all can forgive the Simpsons-based username. I've only been watching wrestling since early 2000, but I used to catch it occasionally while channel-surfing. I remember years ago I saw Ben Stiller in the WWF, and I stopped flipping channels to see what was going on. He was in the audience to promote "Flirting With Disaster", and Jeff Jarrett brought him into the ring. He asked him who his favorite wrestler was, and Stiller said: "The puppies", at which point Jarrett attacked him. Stone Cold made the save, and later on they showed Stiller backstage saying something. This was several years ago, and I never watched wrestling, so my question is: does anyone know if this was part of a larger storyline, or just a one-shot deal? Or am I dreaming this?
As a sidenote, does anyone else remember when almost every WWF star had their themes replaced by rap music in early 2000? I've never heard anyone on this board make reference to it, so maybe everyone just wants to forget. But at the time I thought Stone Cold was going to make his return at Backlash to the sound of RUN DMC, and I was very upset. | Promote this thread! |             | cfgb

To promote the Aggression album everybody (except McMahon, Jericho and Rock) had their themes tweaked for about 2-3 weeks. The Run DMC version of "Theme of DX" was the only one that stuck around (and it was probably the best song on the CD).

Yeah, it was Mystery Men. Reading CRZ's synopsis of the event, I realized that I remembered the whole thing wrong. I also mixed up the Stone Cold stuff from later in the show. About the rap thing, I knew that RUN DMC did the DX theme, because they were promoting it like crazy. At the time, though, I wasn't sure if Stone Cold was going to get a similar treatment (shudder). All my friends and I thought that the rap songs might be permanent changes, and were pretty upset. Not that I have anything against rap music. | The Sham

Reposted on: 16.3.09 1504.08 | Agression had some pretty "phat tracks." The Rock's theme by Method Man was played often on TV, as was DX's theme by Run DMC.
The two BEST songs recorded for that album never made it onto the CD itself. Method Man did a cover of Kane's theme and Slick Rick and Dana Dane did a theme for the Godfather. Get on whatever mp3 pirating software you use and look for these themes which were leaked to the public.
The Kane song didn't make it to CD because that would have given Meth two tracks (and Rock was obviously a bigger star). Slick Rick (the Ruler)'s track didn't make it becasue Ice-T ALSO did a cover and he was the one who reached a deal to accompany the Godfather and D-Lo to the ring while performing the song live at Wrestlemania.
RA the Rugged Man (a rapper big on the underground scene) covered Jericho's theme. Redman and a rapper called Rock (from Heltah Skeltah) did Vince's "No Chance in Hell." Snoop Dogg and WC did "Hell Yeah" for Austin. Finally Mankind's theme was covered, fittingly, by doo-doo rappers ODB and Kool Keith... There were others (NAO, HHH-I think, etc.) but as I thought those tracks sucked, I don't have them on my hard drive.
I refused to buy the album when I found out the best tracks had been left off.
This happened two years ago, and is happening again with Forced (Forceable) Entry. Don't expect all of these metal themes to hang around longer than the hip-hop ones did. | dskillz
