They weren't shooting the puck. Mogilny, Antropov, Roberts, whoever, they were not shooting the puck. The guys that scored in the series McCabe and Niewendyk were the ones who actually shot the puck often...
They need to do the same thing in the next series. The way to take advantage of a weak goalie is to actually shoot the puck at him....

It has been driving me crazy, especially Mogilny - his shot is so good, he's gotten 70 goals in the past, and he doesn't shoot. It seems like in a two on one, he CAN'T shoot. I love him as a player, and when you are playing w/ Sundin and Roberts I can understand him wanting to pass, but, geezlouise, AlMo, when yr on a line w/ Kilger or someone, SHOOT!
Because if they don't get the puck on Esche, Philly will defeat the Leafs. | Net Hack Slasher

Tie Domi is the leading shot-taker in the Leafs lineup... I'm a fan of the guy and all, I love his hustle and drive but there's no way Tie Domi should be the leading guy with shots on goal in a series.
A major problem I see with the Leafs is the lack of forechecking they are doing. Their top lines only have on guy actually working hungry for the puck... The Domi-Kilger line that seems to have guys hungry for the puck too bad they don't have the skill to finish like other lines could have and I think Quinn gave a message by having these guys start Game 7 to the rest of the team that it seems at least Domi-Kilger are trying.
Roberts is working hard while Mogily & Francis seems not to be on par. Fancis is somewhat forgivable because I think he's in a position as first line center that he didn't bargain for or expect. Mogily I have no idea why he seems not to be in scoring position ever... This only 1 of 3 guys working is also happening on the SkyLine. Niewendyk is working amazingly and is the The Leafs best forward right now but Antropov are Ponikarovsky are just not contributing anything. Late in the season that line was great in keeping the pressure on and cycling the puck. But Now Niewendyk is in there getting the puck and Antropov gets it taken away from him and Ponikarvosky seems to have disappeared.
As for Ottawa, they can make the Belfour reasoning all they want but bottomline there was no Nolan the entire series, Toronto best player Niewendyk missed a game(which Ottawa won). And the Leafs didn't have their captain and leading scorer for half of the series (middle of Game 4 Sundin got injured)... Lalime played well until the last game. Where on earth did Peter Bondra go, I really thought this guy was a difference maker and for the leading Powerplay in the season to have one or two goals the entire 7-game series is pathetic. You can also say Pat Quinn outcoached Jacque Martin, he found a way to shut down The Sens powerplay. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
