BOOM

Highlights for my team, according to their website:

  • Two Sunday night home games for the third time in franchise history (1992 and 2002 were the others);
  • A third December trip to Kansas City in the past five years;
  • The Broncos' first-ever regular-season game against the Houston Texans;
  • Denver's first regular-season game in Nashville, and first Christmas Day game since 1999;
  • A trip to Cincinnati for the Bengals' first Monday night home game since 1997;
  • The Broncos' only game at Tampa Bay this decade;
  • A prime-time game against Oakland for the sixth consecutive season and ninth in the past 10;
  • A designated nationally televised home game against the REIGNING AND DEFENDING NFC CHAMPIONS;
  • Vick's first visit to Denver, provided he doesn't get his leg broken again.

And for the benefit of those lucky enough to follow the Iggles.

http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/ homeNewsDetail.jsp?id=10460

Pretty chuffed to see 3 MNF games against the Viks, Cowboys and then in the last game of the season against the Rams. At least I'll be able to see plenty of us without trapsing round too many sports bars in the early hours of the morning.

Biggest grudge match outside the usual Giants/Cowboys games is probably gonna be the visit of Baltimore on Oct 31st though. I'm sure the Ravens will go easy on TO. They used to be team-mates after all

Can't wait to get those damned Panthers back at Lincoln either (Oct 17).

And at least the run in ain't as shitty as it was last year.

That looks like a trial by fire for Eli Manning (assuming they trade up and draft him.)

Does the NFL have a method for choosing when each team/division gets the bye week? It always seems like Green Bay gets the ideal bye week in week 9, exactly halfway through the season.

Looks like a rough start for GB with games in Indy and Carolina....I'll be honest, I think the Packers are due for a letdown of a season this year. I love them to death, but they've done little to improve their club and I don't trust Mike Sherman.

p.s. Broncolanche, that penguin video is absolutely hilarious.

Much as I have no love for the Giants, that could actually work out well for you. Washington might take a few weeks to find their feet, and Dallas have still got the same glaring holes they did last year (no running back, shakey QB etc).

Assuming you get most of the guys back who were out injured last year I'd fancy you've got a decent chance of starting off 3-2 and after that the schedule ain't exactly the toughest in the world. Right now I've got an inkling the Giants might just sneak a wild card. Course I'll probably have changed my mind 30 times by the time it comes for us all to make our predictions, but hey if it happens, you heard it here first! ;)

Your DEFENDING SUPER BOWL CHAMPION PATRIOTS schedule:

1 Thu Sep 9 Indianapolis 9:00 PM
2 Sun Sep 19 at Arizona 4:15 PM
3 BYE WEEK
4 Sun Oct 3 at Buffalo 1:00 PM
5 Sun Oct 10 Miami 1:00 PM
6 Sun Oct 17 Seattle 1:00 PM
7 Sun Oct 24 NY Jets 4:05 PM
8 Sun Oct 31 at Pittsburgh 4:15 PM
9 Sun Nov 7 at St. Louis 4:15 PM
10 Sun Nov 14 Buffalo 8:30 PM
11 Mon Nov 22 at Kansas City 9:00 PM
12 Sun Nov 28 Baltimore 1:00 PM
13 Sun Dec 5 at Cleveland 1:00 PM
14 Sun Dec 12 Cincinnati 1:00 PM
15 Mon Dec 20 at Miami 9:00 PM
16 Sun Dec 26 at NY Jets 4:05 PM
17 Sun Jan 2 San Francisco 1:00 PM

Call me crazy, but that looks like MAYBE a 7-0 start heading in the EJDome to play the Rams. They'll certainly be favored in all of those games.

Finally they have to go to Miami in December. I think the Dolphins have had to go north in December the last three or four years, which seems fairly unfair. And what's with ending the season against the NINERS? With four-team divisions, you'd think the NFL would've just made week 17 with all intradivision matchups.

The first few weeks for the Pats are going to a killer for the fans. Ten days between week 1 and 2 then a week 3 BYE.

Also the Bills and Pats both have week 3 byes before they pay each other on week 4. How often does that happen that both teams come of a bye week and play each other?

It happened twice last year: Week 5 Miami vs. Giants and Week 10 KC vs. Cleveland.

So, uh, I don't think strength of schedule is going to be an issue at the end of the year. The only 'easy' looking games this year are the Chargers and the Cardinals, and even then there's no guarantee. Boy am I glad that Fox decided to pick up some more depth on the Dline and the Linebackers, because this year is gonna be ROUGH.

That is could be a rough season. Big question marks I see are Oakland and Tampa. Having Vick come to Arrowhead is much better than playing him on the turf of the Georgia Dome. Living out in CA, I like the six nationally televised games, especially the three Monday nighters.

Theres always Oakland at home in Week 9. The age of that team they'res every chance they could be pretty banged up by the time they come calling. Even if they're not, I don't see them as being that impressive on paper.

San Fran and Tampa are gonna probably be in transition this year with both teams making pretty major changes so you should be able to overcome them if Delhomme can live up to last seasons form.

Other than that it don't look too pretty. Course predictions at this stage are nigh on impossible but you could easily start of the season 1 and 4 without even playing badly. And only 1 MNF game for the NFC champs. Pfft.

I'm definitely excitied about the Bucs-Rams Monday Night game, as those tow played each other two straight years on MNF (the years after the NFC title game that saw the Rams steal a win and go on to the super bowl), both of which were Bucs wins in very good games. The 2000 game was the best regular season game I've ever seen.

Other than that the schedule...eh. They all look the same now. I don't know why anyone would be excited by a schedule rightn ow, as the league is just going to flip-flop next year, and bad teams will be good and good teams bad. There's literally no way to predict. Some people think this is good, I think it is stupid.

Oh great, NOW is the year Miami doesn't have to go to Buffalo or New England in December. Although that said this on paper right now looks like an easier schedule than last year's.

Miami Dolphins

Sept. 19 at Cincinnati, 8:30 p.m.
Sept. 26 Pittsburgh, 1 p.m.
Oct. 3 New York Jets, 4:15 p.m.
Oct. 10 at New England, 1 p.m.
Oct. 17 at Buffalo, 1 p.m.
Oct. 24 St. Louis, 1 p.m.
Nov. 1 at New York Jets, 9 p.m.
Nov. 7 Arizona, 1 p.m.
Nov. 14 Open Date
Nov. 21 at Seattle, 4:05 p.m.
Nov. 28 at San Francisco, 4:15 p.m.
Dec. 5 Buffalo, 1 p.m.
Dec. 12 at Denver, 4:05 p.m.
Dec. 20 New England, 9 p.m.
Dec. 26 Cleveland, 8:30 p.m.

I don't know how much easier that schedule is...

Instead of going to Buffalo and New England in December, we get to go to Denver and Baltimore. Seems like a wash to me...

I do like having the Titans and Rams at home, though. Looks like they have the last bye week too, right before a two week west coast swing. Not bad.

Oddly enough, Buffalo doesn't play any AFC East rivals after November 14th (EDIT: Except a road game in Miami which I completely missed for some weirder reason). Weird. Albeit, if Buffalo's in the thick of things, a game against Cleveland is always nice in the must-win home stretch of December.

Cheesehead Nation, behold the 2004 schedule. Boo-yah. (Packers.com)

Thoughts:

* 3 games on MNF again...but for the first time in awhile, 2 of 'em at Lambeau.
* Milwaukee ticket holders get the Vikings...and the Giants. Bleh.
* Opening on MNF @ Carolina...winnable. Gotta come out strong in that game and make a statement to the world that we in it to win it, yo.
* The annual trip to that shitty dome in Minneapolis is...Christmas Eve? On a FRIDAY!? WTF?! I ain't puttin' in for that one.
* Carolina and Houston (I've got a buddy there in the USAF) look to be the only cool road trips yours truly can put in for for covering the Pack on the road this year.
* December 5...REVENGE in Philly! 4th-and-26 THIS.
* October 24...Dallas comes to Lambeau! 'Course, it ain't the same as it used to be...
* I was hoping for more home games in December, but the NFL ain't stupid.
