I was just watching the Undertaker vs Mankind Boiler Room match, and I've gotta say.. it's pretty fucking weird, especially in the beginning.

I actually liked the match a lot, because, well.. I like weird things. The way it was absolutely silent for a large part of the match was strange and made it feel kind of sinister, and the dark lighting helped in that respect, as well. Paul Bearer shunning the Undertaker at the end was one of those "Gasp!" moments for me.

Mankind's.. er, squealing like a pig was a bit disturbing. And what in the hell was he using for entrance music? It sounded like the instrumental of "Memories" from Cats.

Anyway, are there any other really odd matches/vignettes that come to mind?

I know it was rubbished at the time, but The Undertaker's burning of Steph's teddy-bear freaked me out something fierce. It wasn't done salaciously, was the total opposite in fact-just silence and darkness, with Vince on his knees looking up at Taker holding the flaming bear. There was something so beyond the realms of what wa snormally used in a wrestling angle about it that it sent shivers down my spine.

Probably the first that comes to mind, but I was smacking myself like crazy trying to wake up while watching the Necrophilia segment.

Man I loved that match. I might even delve into the achives tonight and watch it. I beleive it was the only match that really did involve hot coffee. Watching the wrestlers as they went down the hallway was cool too. All i remember is Austin looking on with Henry Godwin and Goldust. Do you also have the Free for All aswell. I believe it was the one with Austin vs. Yoko where the top rope broke.

As far as Odd moments in wrestling....erm, I guess when Kane was doing the supernatural stuff before taker returned in 98. I remember a guy getting set on fire and at the bottom of the screen it flashes ''this is a stunt''.

Clash of the Champions X.

The main event is the Horsemen (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, & Sting) vs. The Great Muta, Buzz Sawyer, and the Dragon Master.

The main event of the next PPV is to be a Horseman stand-off as 6 time NWA World Champion Ric Flair is to defend the title against the #1 contender, Sting.

Terry Funk call the Horsemen out for an interview. During this interview, Ole Anderson takes it upon himself to kick Sting out of the Horsemen. It's only Ric Flair's mercy that is saving Sting from a beatdown now. Sting starts to talk back, and a mini-Horsemen beatdown happens anyways.

The main event comes. Ole Anderson replaces Sting in the match. The Horsemen, who were bright, shiny babyfaces just 90 minutes earlier are getting booed out of the building. Buzz Sawyer starts out for his team against Arn Anderson, and the crowd hates them both.

Then... The Great Muta tags in.

The crowd hates the Andersons. The crowd hates Ric Flair. The crowd hates Buzz Sawyer. The crowd is quite indifferent to The Dragonmaster.

The crowd suddenly decides... They LOVE The Great Muta. Muta sells it perfectly. After all, nothing's changed about him. He didn't start slapping hands and kissing babies. All he did was tag in. He looks around, the crowd pops. He climbs the ropes to look at the crowd, they pop even more. The crowd wants a hero in their main event, and they've decided Muta is their man.

As I was somewhat younger, and a lot more markish, this was the oddest and most awe inspiring thing I'd seen in wrestling at that point. I'm still a Muta fan from that night.

I think Foley's first anti-Orton promo -- the one where he punched himself in the face and busted himself open so it looked like he was crying blood -- definitely qualifies as a weird moment.

And then there was the Tori/Ivory hardcore match where Tori, for absolutely no reason whatsoever, decided to strip down to her panties before the match. Not that I minded, but...

The old school Mankind music ruled. Ode to Freud I believe they called it? And then the fact that he had a different music after the match..brilliant.
The squealing like a pig thing was awesome too, befitting the portrayal of deranged Mankind.

Anyways..The oddest thing I have seen (and it pissed me off because it doesn't make sense in wrestling) is Mr. Pogo using a knife and then a sickle on Masato Tanaka (Hayabusa/tanaka vs Funk/Pogo) it looks so odd, and bizarre. My thought was like 'get a gun and get it over with'..

That match was disturbing, but not for that reason. Ivory breaking a glass window over Tori's head and burning her back with an iron (complete with cooking bacon sound effect) made my skin crawl.

Vince locking up Linda in a mental institution while verbally and mentally abusing her was kinda creepy, even by MacMahon standards.

As for a question in the original post, Mankind's original gimmick was that he was a rich piano prodigy as a child who was shunned by his parents and sent to live in the sewers which turned him into a demented freak...

As far as Shocking moment is has to be Mankind vs. Taker in the hell in the Cell. Every time you thought it couldn't go on any farther Foley got got back up. After the match I thought Foley would take some time off but he wrestled the very next day!

Weird moment, I'd have to say the match in which Chris Benoit fought Kevin Sullivan in The women's restroom (over Benoit's valet Woman ironicly). For some reason Benoit became my fav after that match.

I always thought that WCW should've ran with this, and turned Muta face. He would've been ultra cool, and at least it would fill a role as Flair's challenger while Sting was out.

The first time I saw Papa Shango set someone on fire was ultra unique! The next week he made them disappear and that was something i'd never seen either. Subsequently the novelty wore off and I began to wonder if that voodoo stuff and all the skulls had anything to it :).

ummm lets see, When that Tiger turned in to the Black Scorpion or vice versa it seemed like I was watching a magic no way a mammoth tiger is in that cage somewhere.

Back in the USWA when Skandar Akbar's bunch and Eric Embry (I believe) were fueding they would do wierd stuff like light 2x4's on fire and hit each other with them...or at least give that manditory whiff swing as the target exited through the ropes.

These were moments when the act itself fascinated me to the point of having no regard for the storyline or angle at that moment. Come to think of it, I guess it's quite an achievement.

Seeing Bischoff on RAW for the first time was pretty surreal, and his hug with Vince was even more odd. Just three years earlier, it would have been a cold day in hell before that happened.

Mae Young taking off her top at Royal Rumble 2000 was... yeah. Good thing I don't buy PPVs.

The angle where Undertaker locked the Warrior in the casket has always been memorable to me. I was a bit claustrophobic when I was younger, so I was just a tad creeped out by the whole idea.

Along the same line as the Jericho/Chyna hand breaking thing. Back in the glory days of ECW, Raven broke Tommy Dreamer's fingers one by one and Tommy screamed like a baby at each finger. That was just kind of sick.

Also, on a different level. The Nitro where the nWo completely took over and destroyed the set and used the 2nd hour of the show to debut "nWo Monday Nitro". The weird thing about it was there was no announcers around and it took almost 40 mins for them to finish redoing the Nitro set. It was just weird to be watching a wrestling show and it had no wrestling for almost an hour.

The most disturbing or bizarre match that I saw was the Outlaw Ron Bass vs Brutis "The Barber" Beefcake match in 1988. When Outlaw Ron Bass used his spears and grinded Beefcake's forehead with them. Blood was oozing off Beefcake's face. It was probably the most hardcore thing that I have ever seen from the WWF at the time. Considering the WWF was marketed towards the youth market. That is why Vince McMahon censored that part when it was shown on "WWF Superstars."

I remember I was just watching Smackdown one day, and Roddy Piper was ranting about how much he hates Hogan... When all of a sudden, a fan jumped in and hit him with an American flag. He falls down, tries to escape, when all of a sudden, Piper grabs leg.

The leg comes off... Piper stands there with a leg in his hand.

WTF!?

Also the ring collapse with Show and Lesnar was odd and awesome.

A bizarre moment was when Hogan and the nWo brutally beat Roddy Piper in the days where the nWo always came out on top because it got to a point a that moment fans through garbage in the ring do to anger towards the bad guys always winning(but hey that kinda hate equals ratings)
