WWE will soon drop Confidential from their TV schedule. The show has been drawing low ratings. Combine that with the fact that it is expensive to produce and it isn't a surprise that WWE has made the decision to give it the ax.

Confidential's timeslot will need to be filled by another WWE program, as per WWE's deal with Viacom.

It has been rumored for awhile now that WWE may bring back ECW and give them a Saturday night timeslot. It is unknown, however, if those rumors have any truth to them or if WWE plans to replace Confidential with something totally new.

Confidential actually started out performing well. The show featured "insider" segments. However, WWE ended up turning the show into mostly fluff after their decision to no longer give fans such a close "insider" look at WWE. The show has also been hurt by the fact that the company decided to cut costs on it and air repeats every few weeks.

Damn, this show was really fun to watch for a while. Although, lately it has sucked a lot since they tend to focus on the "exclusive" making of Stacker 2 commericals and lame photoshoots for RAW magazine. I miss the good old days of them talking about Steve Austin walking out and Elizabeth's death and the stuff like that. But, if it does get replaced by ECW, I aint gonna complain.

That's not a bad idea. Mean Gene does give good interview. If tonight's show is any indication, Smackdown could use a guy with his skills to keep the show more cohesive backstage.

But perhaps he'll have a place on whatever they replace confidential with.

Does Gene want to be on the road that much at this stage in his life, though? I guess it could be one day a week, and then SD PPVs and Mixed PPVs, but even so, that's more flights than he really has to get on to make ends meet by now, isn't it. I'd love to see it, personally, but I wonder if it's something he'd want to do.

I blame you guys for the recent goose egg replies I got on my Confidential review thread.

I would really miss it, I'm a huge fan of Confidential. For me, most consistent good hour of WWE television on the schedule. Raw/SD have times that they piss me off, I usually leave Confidential with a good feeling... Sure it's been accused of being fluff and such, but I don't mind that. I enjoy seeing these men and women who on the most part I really like, away from the arena setting we are so used to seeing them.

I'm going to miss the follow a superstar at an oversea tours, those are usually the best. Kurt in a Japanese spa getting a massage as a guy in a Ultimo mask looks on as Kurt gets uncomfortable. Trish breaking out a perfect Australian accent as she visits a zoo with Stacy... Jericho at John Lennon hall of fame outing Hurricane having no clue who the Beatles are and Christian & Matt Hardy doing Japanese pancakes with the chef totally no selling any of their antics.

Why? He can't wrestle full time. His back is messed up. "ECW" coming back wouldn't somehow get Tommy Dreamer wrestling every week. But, that's moot because "ECW" isn't coming back.

Well, let's not forget that Gene also hosts that Classic Wrestling PPV series I watch religiously, so it's not like he'll be feeding pidgeons in alleys anytime soon.

I think Gene would actually be a good addition to a backstage interview, rather than being someone like Terri who just stood there and held the mic. Towards the end of WCW Gene was developing a bit of an attitude...not a "draw the heat away from the wrestlers" attitude, but the way he would respond with an excited "you've gotta be kidding me" or something other than a slight widening of the eyes (ala Marc Loyd) I felt added emphasis to what was being said. There could be some value there.

In the beginning the show definitely looked to have potential, and yeah it had its moments. The only thing I'll really miss are the classic matches, and even those were usually picks available through WWE DVDs. Hopefully the "new" show will continue the classic match segments. Honestly, I'll usually watch anything WWE or wrestling but even I draw the line with footage of another Stacker 2 commercial filming or another wrestler appearance at a charity baseball event. Or another damn Military appearance..which are alomst always covered even on Raw and Smackdown.
Something about watching wrestlers in kayfabe even while supposedly "away from TV character" just really gets on my nerves.

On the question of What Will Happen to Mean Gene now? Well, that's to hot to handle on the internet. However, for only $1.99 a minute, you can call the WCW Hotline and Mean Gene will tell you his secret plans. Children under 18, get your parents consent.
On a semi-serious note, if the Sunday morning show becomes All American Wrestling 2, perhaps he reclaims that studio hosts role. Either that, or he remains on board for the occassional public appearances etc. However, if he hasn't taken an arena role in the past few years, I'd doubt he'd take it up now.

Other than Mean Gene's per diem, what exactly are the enormous costs that make this show "expensive to produce".

They own the video library and shoot any interviews they need while the crew is onsite at the venues using their own in house production facilities.

Maybe the Brooklyn Brawler has guaranteed bookings and a massive appearance fee that's killing the budget.
