What Aaron did was amazing. He would look like a midget today compared to Bonds, he was the model of consistency, and he is a truly humble man. No doubt about it, Hank was/is a great man. There are SportsCentury shows about him and he is revered and should be.
But the initial post I was responding to was about tonight's SportsCenter, which is a current news show and not a historical retrospective. In that light, Bonds hitting No. 660 is a bigger deal. It's not a bigger deal in general, just in that light. That's all I'm saying. | Grimis

Good stat comparison. I was but a young Junior in high school when Hammerin' Hank hit 714 and 715 in April 0f '74. Young and stupid (smart?) enough to ditch for the Cincinatti game because the game was carried on Radio and they broken into both games on TV. The second game was on TV, of course.
One interesting stat about Henry is that he never hit over 50 HRs in a season in his career. A model of consistancy. And of course, Bonds has only done it once. Aaron, 8 seasons 40 HR and over, Bonds: 7 (and counting).
Both very impressive players.

I don't know about that, have you seen Sportscenter lately? They show all these top 10 lists about the top whatever of all time, and have all these stupid quiz shows instead of spending even thirty seconds on an important game that happened that night. And they insist on making every single stat they come up with be some kind of historical milestone. Sportscenter just totally blows now.
