(I'd have put this in the Football forum where it goes, but I thought more Brits would see it here.)

I was curious how those interested feel about this. The FA Cup Semifinals were this weekend, and the two matchups were Manchester United-Arsenal and Millwall-Sunderland. Man U and Arsenal are two of the top teams in the Premiership, while Millwall and Sunderland are near the top of Division One.

If you seeded the teams based on their records and standing in their leagues, they would go:

(1) Arsenal
(3) Man U
(23) Sunderland (3rd in Division One, there are 20 teams in the EPL)
(25) Millwall (5th in Divison One)

Did anyone mind that the two big guns drew each other in the semis, rather than having a potential Arsenal-Man U final? Is it a blind draw? I know it's not a bracket like our sports tend to use, but if that kind of thing happened here (where the two best teams meet before the final) people tend to get fired up about it.

Oh, and a big BOO-HOO to those that wanted Arsenal to win the treble, as well. How tragic. :)

That Arsenal-Man U game was all kinds of awesome. Both teams were playing open, attacking football and there were chances galore. I can't believe Arsenal didn't manage to score with some of their opportunities.

As for the Millwall-Sunderland game, it was a good physical English game. Millwall has some talent, but they are going to be totally outclassed in the final ... they are going to have to play a perfect game and have a ton of luck to beat Man U.

Ya, the draw is blind. I actually like the fact that Arsenal and Manchester drew each other in the semi-final ... it shows the draw isn't rigged It's one of the appeals of the Cup system ... each round it's totally up in the air who you are going to meet, so the draw becomes almost as important as the game itself.

The final game is on the 22nd of May. I've already booked that day off of work. Go Millwall!

Any help on where to watch this happen?

I usually catch clipped matches on FoxSportsWorld and other oddball cable sports channels that I usually surf through. I would hope FoxSportsWorld.

Yeah, the draws blind but nobody minds at all really.

The FA cup (along with most domestic cups in Europe) always has been unseeded so its never even been an issue as far as I'm aware.

The only 'seeding' that goes on is that the clubs in the bigger leagues get a bye to the third round allowing all the non-leaguers to battle it out to get through to face the big boys in the cup proper.

The beauty of it is that in each draw you can have a big name clash (Arsenal already played Chelsea and Liverpool this year) as well as seeing a David vs Goliath match up, with a big team having to travel to face one of the little guys. Most of the smaller teams play at tiny ass stadiums with utterly shitty pitches so you tend to see a decent upset here and there.

The Manyou game was pretty good this weekend and I'd pay money to watch Christiano Ronaldo any day, but both defences looked really ropey. If Arsenal don't sharpen up by the time Real Madrid come knocking they're gonna get eaten alive.

We're also now left with the prospect of a final between 2 of the most hatable teams in all of sports. On one hand we've got the glory hunting, bandwagon jumping fans of Man U with their arrogance bred through years of success. On the other you've got the notoriously neddish hooligans of Millwall many of whom have been known to delight in making monkey noises at opposition players who have the audacity to be black.

I want to say Man U what with racism and violence being greater crimes than arrogance, but damn does just looking at Roy Keane make me angry. I guess I'll just content myself with the knowledge that the entire tournament is null and void due to the early exit of Bolton.

In Canada, Sportsnet has carried the last few rounds, plus they will carry the final. They pick up the British feed (I'm not sure if it's from the BBC or from Sky). As for America, as it's not on Fox Sportsworld, you may have to find a pub showing it, or a friend with a satellite dish.

Edit: eeeeeeh I had forgotten the racist fans of Millwall. Shit. I can't bring myself to cheer for Man U either ... it's a conundrum!

FoxSportsWorld will show the match, but I don't know if they will be able to show it live. So, you may have to watch a delayed version (based on past events, my guess is that if they don't have it live, then they'll show it Monday night, May 24, at 8 EST). But, once they start showing it, they will show it (in full) several times. And, living in the States, unless you actively look for the result, then you can still watch it taped without knowing the eventual winner. Of course, any real English pub will have it live and you could watch it there instead.

The FA Cup is a good competition due to the fact that so many small teams can get so far. It also means so much at all levels. It's great to see all the non-league teams in the first and second rounds dreaming of playing a top Premiership team.

As for the final, I would be pretty sure ManU will win. They have been written off far too much this season, Ferguson is just building his next team. They won't be great next season but after that, Fletcher, Ronaldo, and the other youngsters will be ready for the big games (champions league). Millwall do seem capable of playing football as well as kicking the opposition in the air, I'll put that down to Ray Wilkins, although their fans annoy me. I don't really care who wins but Millwall fans in Europe is a frightening prospect.

Anyway, what about those results last night? I thought Arsenal-Real was a cert, they must be cursing Morientes in Madrid at the minute. Good on Chelsea, I hope Ranieri wins the champions league and walks out, he's deserves to be treated with more respect.

Milan will win the champions league I would guess, just too good all round and they know how to win. Watch them play out a stunning 0-0 draw tonight, possibly.

How is the football in the America these days? I'll never forgive them for not showing the World Cup final live in Illinois. They put on a programme about farming, freaking farming. Anyway, time for the Milan game, and dMr, good picture, Jay-Jay is a hero.

As a Scot I'd love to see Fletcher really step up and make a name for himself but Roy Keane's not getting any younger and I'm not sure at all about how effective Fletcher can be when he doesn't have a physical presence alongside him in midfield. He just looks way too lightweight and when he plays for Scotland he doesn't look too hot. Hopefully that's just him getting to grips with international football though.

Ah come on, the passing footballs gotta be ALL Dennis Wise

I wasn't sure about Arsenal but I assumed Real Madrid was a given. Maybe now they'll think about spending some of their annual millions on someone who can actually defend.

As I write they're 3-0 down which would put them out on away goals. If it happens that would have to go down as one of the greatest upsets/comebacks in the Champions League

I was very very wrong about Milan. Great performance by Deportivo, they absolutely mauled them. Top of the Spanish, Italian and English leagues knocked out of the Champions league in consectutive days, unbelievable results. I just hope Deportivo beat Porto now. Porto are a bunch of diving, cheating not nice people.

I am so disappointed, Millwall are going to Europe and Sunderland get nothing!(that I know of) It was really surreal to be in the semi-final I sort of forgot we could lose.

We are getting promoted back to the premiership or I am walking down to the Stadium of Light with a very large stick!

I just don't know where the hell it came from. I mean they're a good team and all but I never thought I'd see the day that Milan lost a 3 goal lead to ANYONE.

Its really strange seeing the semi's not have a big name in there. I've become so used to seeing Real, Man U, Juve, Milan and the like dominate that I almost assumed one of them would have to win it again.

If Chelsea manage it then Ranieri deserves all the praise in the world. To get a team to gel so well in 1 year is a heck of a job, regardless of how much you spend.

I'd be a bit worried if I were a Gunners fan, possibly a few weeks from the treble, now if they blow their slim lead over Chelsea that would be major choke jobs two years in a row and zero trophies this year to show for it.

Hey, Deportivo were down 4-1 from the first leg, Luque, Victor, and Pandiani were pretty much rested after the 2-2 draw with Real Betis on Sunday, and they brought the house. They haven't given up a goal at the Riazor in Champions League play this season...

I'll be very excited if they can pull this off!

I take absolutely nothing away from Depor. I said earlier that should go down as one of the greatest comebacks in Champions League history, if not in the history of the European Cup.

But Italians just never used to lose even a 1-0 lead a few years back. It stunned me to see any Italian team to throw away a lead like that, never mind one thats got Paolo Maldini at the back and is coming off the back of a Champions League win last year.

I don't see Arsenal losing the league though. They have been built up to be better than they are but they're run in ain't that tough and certainly no tougher than Chelsea's. That said, last game of the season for the GUnners is at White Hart Lane, and if anyone would like to cost Arsenal the title it would be Spurs.

First of all, DMR, how in the world can you like that little punk Christiano Ronaldo? You don't want to just smack him every time you see him?

Second, I would have hated to see your reaction to the Carling Cup final this year

Is the Carling Cup or FA cup the bigger deal? Do the top teams play their A-side for the FA cup? I know the only reason Boro got by Arsenal in the Carling Cup is because Arsenal rested most of their starters. Same deal in FA?

As for that last Gunners-Spurs game, if it turns out Tottenham might cost Arsenal the Title, I'd honestly considering flying to London from New York for the game. Go Spurs!

The FA Cup is a bigger deal than the Carling Cup. Basically Man United and Arsenal play reserve teams until the semi-final of the Carling Cup. In the FA cup they actually care about winning so they only play reserve teams against lower league teams that they're pretty sure they'll beat.

I still don't think Arsenal will lose the league but then I was sure Milan would play out a 0-0 draw with Deportivo. It'll be intersting to see how Arsenal get on against Liverpool and Newcastle at the weekend. Without Henry and they're usual confidence/arrogance they could struggle and Liverpool and Newcastle have a Champions League spot to play for.
