They're a rocking alternative-ish band fronted by one of the best songwriters out there today, E. I just picked up their new album Souljacker yesterday, and it sounds pretty good so far, but I don't know if I'm going to like it as much as some of their older stuff. I'm going to see them for the first time later in the month too. I'm psyched as hell. Any other Eels fans out there? And if there are, do you have any thoughts on the new album compared to their other three? | Promote this thread! | | Papercuts!

Yeah, I usually correct people when they put "the" in front of their name. I musta slipped when writing, though! Definitely check out the new album. I've listened to it a few more times now, and it's gets better with each listening. Souljacker pt. 1 is my favorite so far. | Snooge

Their newest album, Souljacker, and the last one, Daisies of the Galaxy, aren't that depressing actually. The only one that really freaks me out is Electro Shock Blues. But I guess losing a sister to suicide and your mom to cancer will do that. That may be the most depressing album I've ever been a big fan of. It's also my favorite of theirs, though. It's just done soooo damn well throughout.
p.s. Love the Hum background behind your posts, ironclad. I didn't catch it at first. It looked so damn familiar then I looked over at the Hum poster on my wall for Downward is Heavenward, and it hit me.

What, the name didn't give you a clue? (HINT: Check the tracklist on Electra 2000)

Yeah, I totally kicked myself after your name dawned on me. I'm bad with song names a lot of the time. I usually just know stuff by the track number. Iron Clad Lou is like the first or second track on Electra, isn't it? I know my favorite of the album is track two. Damn, that song rocks hard as hell. | ironcladlou

You're thinking of Pinch and Roll, the infamous "I can't believe I'm a dirty old man who pisses on himself" song. Man, that whole album rocks my fuckin' socks off. Shame they broke up. downward is heavenward is one of the best albums I've ever heard. | Eradicator

That's what he's saying in Pinch and Roll?!? I never knew that. He's singing so fast at that part I could never decipher it. I just always got into 'cause it's a great breakup song with the 'f-you' line in there and all.
Best of their albums overall has to be You'd Prefer an Astronaut," though.
I had heard they broke up, but never heard a reason for it. You have nay idea? | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
