I have been made aware that a few countries pushed their clocks forward this morning. The USA won't do that until NEXT Sunday, so you'll either have to

1) live with the clock being an hour off for a week, or
2) change your timezone in your profile...and then do it again next week

For the record, DST kicks in at 0200 on the first Sunday of April and ends at 0200 on the final Sunday in October...at least, until Congress next tinkers with the formula. :)

And then there are those of us who live in places that don't do DST at all. (We've got plenty of daylight already, but thanks for offering.) It's always entertaining how many things change around us, when we supposedly shouldn't need to do anything. :-)

Indiana has THREE time zones, one is in Central, one in Eastern, and one that doesn't change to summer time.

The entire state of Arizona doesn't observe. Of course, this is the state that also hates Martin Luther King :-P

also, according to http://webexhibits.org/ daylightsaving/f.html , Hawai'i is the only other state not to change time. AZ and Indiana being the other 2 states. About 99% of Indiana is Eastern, but doesn't change time. 2 Western Areas are Central and change to summer time, and 2 Eastern Areas are Eastern but DO change to summer time.

Saskatchewan doesn't change to summer time.

They don't hate Martin Luther they are just annoyed at another winter holiday which they find useless. They were supporting a holiday in August, which would make more sense for everyone since we can have a 3 day weekend and go to the shore.

That's what Victory over Japan (VJ) Day is for, the second Monday in August. Not as good as the scam Massachusetts has with Patriots Day (or Evacuation Day, or Bunker Hill Day), but still a good way to steal a Monday holiday between July 4th and Labor Day.

Just in case anyone missed it on the MLK site, it is hosted by stormfront.org.

//edit: It occurs to me that not everyone is familiar with stormfront.org. I'll let their site speak for themselves: "Stormfront is a resource for those courageous men and women fighting to preserve their White Western culture, ideals and freedom of speech and association - a forum for planning strategies and forming political and social groups to ensure victory." This is listed under the heading "White Nationalist Resource Page". This all sits under a large graphic of a cross with the words "White Pride World Wide" in it.

From that context, I'd expect them to be a bit biased about Martin Luther King - and I'm a bit suspicious of the way that they present their data about him. For example, people that are in the right, generally don't try to target children or students with sleeper domain names and misdirection.

They have every right to have an opinion on this subject, but I don't like the way they are going about it.

Having typed all of this, I'm wondering if there is a good way to keep google from seeing it so that it doesn't end up driving hits to our site.

Edit #2 : I've added garbage HTML in the words that I don't want linked to us. Please do not mention the organization by name - I'm not trying to cause a problem with them, just trying to point out the source. Sometimes having good Google ranking is a bad thing.

I always thought the "real" reason MLK day was created as a holiday was that it should have falled the day after the Super Bowl and everyone would get the day off from work, but it would be for "a good reason."

Useless holiday? Do you even know what you're saying here? You, sir, have just taken blasphemy soaring to heights never before thought possible.

In the interest of fairness, I want to point out that Arizona now observes Martin Luther King day as voters approved the holiday in 1992.

And if you are really interested (or bored) this is a timeline hosted by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records
