STATEMENT FROM MR. MCMAHON Earlier tonight, Paul Heyman - the former General Manager of SmackDown! - was drafted by RAW and subsequently quit. Therefore, due to the absence of a GM on SmackDown!, I have extended the trading deadline to 9 p.m. ET Tuesday, at which time a new GM of SmackDown! will be announced, and that new GM of SmackDown! will in fact announce all trades. Thank you. ======================================= Well...this is certainly going to make things interesting...I wonder if all our nightmares are going to come true if Stephanie is going to be the GM again? It'll also be interesting to see how they handle the SD! side of things without leaking any spoilers, due to the fact that SD! is going to be taping tomorrow night at 9 p.m. Promote this thread! | | Big Bad

| #3 Posted on 22.3.04 2247.37 Reposted on: 22.3.11 2247.37 | I remember back when McMahon announced the introduction of General Managers with Bischoff on Raw, everyone was scared shitless Monday night and all of Tuesday hoping that they wouldn't actually give it to Stephanie. All of those fears worsened when the spoilers came in and Stephanie McMahon became the first Smackdown General Manager.
I thought the current setup was perfect. What better way to have the owner of ECW and president of WCW, two companies that competed with the WWF when the wrestling business was at its peak, be GMs on each of Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Entertainment television programs. Who would have ever thought we would see Bischoff and Heyman each having a WWE roster anyway? Not to mention, both men are great performers that compliment each show well. Vince doesn't realize that not only does Stephanie not do this, but she's also not entertaining on her own. Shane, Austin, anyone but her. | ekedolphin

I thought having Bischoff on RAW and Heyman on SmackDown was pretty sweet, too. I thought it was very surreal seeing Bischoff, Heyman and Vinnie Mac all on the TV screen at the same time.
On the other hand, you know Bischoff isn't gonna trade any of his champions, and the new GM won't, either, so regarding that situation, I don't think we have anything to worry about. I spent most of RAW thinking, “Don't pick Benoit, don't pick Guerrero”, so I was happy when, in fact, all champions remained on their respective rosters. I wouldn't have minded moving Randy Orton to SmackDown, but I suppose I can't have it all. | SKLOKAZOID

The little interaction between Bischoff and Heyman today was great. I wish we got more of that and saw them go head-to-head verbally. I remember when Flair and McMahon did that, and it wasn't all that great for the most part, but I bet Heyman and Bischoff would have played well off each other. | Joe E. Nitro

"Is the WWE THAT flawed when it comes to continuity?" YES!
Why wouldn't he pick Steph? Hell, she was in charge of ECW while Shane was in charge of WCW. when they were trying to put WWE out of business then. And yet he welcomed her back so why wouldn't he do it again?
I think since Heyman quit after being drafted to RAW he will somehow convince Vince to let him become GM of Smackdown again since he is no longer a RAW item. If the ECW rumors are false. | T.i.O a B.m.F

Anway most of the guys drafted were jobbers. Oh and of course Steph is going to be GM so they can start a Steph/HhH storyline. HhH having his ex-wife as a boss could be huge and I think bring in big ratings. This could be like the Steph/HHH/Angle love storyline, bring in female viewers. Oh shit Angle is also on Smackdown. There are a lot of possiblities here. But most importantly its coming....ECW! ECW! ECW! | jwrestle

Exactly, I felt the door was left wide open saying he wouldn't ever work for RAW and then quiting. I jumped out my seat and started chanting. So mabe the rumored 3rd brand might be in the works now. If it isn't already in black and white. Maybe in the shade of grey actually. | y4j1981

Yea this kinda reminded me when the nWo Red and Black came together with nWo Black and White. The first draft was the Red and Black version and this draft seemed to be the Black and White version or the jobbers of the group.
Anyway, I hope Steph isn't picked. Maybe they can shock us like they did with Bischoff the first time. But I don't know if they can get some one to be just as shocking now. | Gugs

You've failed to take into mind on basic McMahon rule..."Anything can happen in the WWE/F." So I don't doubt anything anymore. If there is the slightest chance they might resurrect ECW then I'm going take in consideration that they might do it. Then again if they don't I won't be to disappointed. | Bulldog1980

| #17 Posted on 23.3.04 0724.44 Reposted on: 23.3.11 0726.32 | I've said it before, but Kurt Angle would make for a perfect GM for Smackdown. After all, didn't he just say before WM that there were people like Eddie that was pulling the company into the dumps and HE (Kurt Angle) was the one that would make the company great again? And after the cheers he heard for Eddie at WM, he would be even more determined to make things right in the U.S. again.
Plus, it'll keep him in the public eye while allowing him to rest up a bit as well; not to mention give us a GM that could realistically kick everyone's butts if he wanted to.
Yeah, it probably won't happen, but it would certainly fit into the storyline there. | Ramblin Wreck

I actually thought about that last night when the first two guys picked for Smackdown were guys who had spent a lot of time in OVW.
Now that would have given Heyman a spittake . . . and he wouldn't have even needed the water to do it. |
