Looks like Joshua Grutman is retiring from 411 due to his schedule being too much for him. I'm going to be sad to see him go, as not only was he very funny, he was also a brilliant writer in my opinion, plus he was pretty much the only member of the IWC that everybody loves (maybe Flea too, I dunno.) Best wishes and all the best Josh.

TELL ME A LIIIIIIIE
AND SAAAAAY THAT YOU WON'T GOOOOOOO...

I'm actually sorry to hear that...Grut was one of the only writers (present company excluded, of course :D) that I looked forward to reading when he had new stuff out.

Oh well, there's always the archives and whenever his big breakthrough play comes out. Let me put on my Good Ol' J.R. Cowboy Hat and say goodbye Grut, and thank you.

But then again, NO ONE ever retires from the web...maybe Aaron Marco, but I'm not sure that counts.

I always thought he was annoying and self-involved.

To be fair, I rarely read him.

Somebody annoying AND self-involved in the IWC? By Gawd, that's impossible!

Thanks for the memories, Grut.

And what about Herb Kunze?

I'll miss Grut. He was one of my favorites. Even on the Black page! Will Randle and Gloomchem still have a column on 411 without him?

And the Oursocalledsport.com guys have stayed gone since before Judgment day 2002. Although one of them still shows up around here, or more.

And what about Al Isaacs?

Yeah, and someone else said Kunze, but that's like two out of how many? Which is also the reason why I get goofy- indignant when it comes to END FO MY ERA announcements.

I've loved Grut for years, but since fall it's been clear he just doesn't have the time and/or effort to put into his column anymore. I hope that his 'retirement' will result in him coming back refreshed and ready to fire Lance Storm.

Steve Randle is a perfectly acceptable Grut replacement in the Wrestling zone.

Know who I miss? Jay Bower.

What a total ass. According this was the next to the last paragraph from 411's 03-28-04 Wrestling News Experience...

--The FINAL WORD on Grut--

It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to Joshua Grutman, who was fired last week when Widro and Ashish discovered that “Chris Hyatte”, “Flea”, and “Stephen Randle” were just Grut writing under assumed names. Grut’s tireless devotion to this site was matched only by how truly insane his ramblings could be. But he has a life to live, and more important things to worry about, and so he’s leaving us.

...was this a joke or something? This was even written by 'Stephen Randle', one of the names listed.

There's a long-standing joke among 411 writers and fans that Hyatte, Flea, and Grutman are all actually the same person. This is due to the way Hyatte "found" the other two as fans and got them spots on 411 out of nowhere. Grutman similarly "found" Steve Randle and gave him Grut's old spot on 411 (not his dog Spot, and not his liver spot). So Randle was summarily added to the joke.

Man I'm wiping a tear right now, that was so damn funny having it all explained like that. I wish more people from sites unrelated to this one could come over and explain their in-jokes.

Well, there's this one hahahah, over at Powerwrestling.com, where I write, hahha, see, the webmaster Kevin Gregg, once lost his slippers hahahahah, and we call..him...SLIPPY!

So long Grut. Loved the Wrestling Tales, never thought much of the Junk News, and looked forward to the release of new Black Clouds and Inspired By(s?), you'll be missed until your return.

Thanks by the way.
