I just read a review of this x-box game and it sounds pretty cool. Has anyone on here played it and if so, can you tell me your opinion of the game?

I've played it, and I'd have to say rent it before you buy it.

You get 3 of each type of weapon (pistol, rifle, shotgun) over the course of the game, but there isn't much difference between the weapons, and you mainly only need the 2nd rifle, which you get about a quarter of the way through the game. The story mode can be beat in about 4-5 hours on your first try, and there's no alternate endings or unlockables to necessitate multiple playthroughs.

The "Territorial Poker" mini-game at the start of each single-player level is the best part of the game, and should have been implemented as a full-fledged mini-game (including a multiplayer/Xbox Live mode), but is only in the single-player mode.

Multiplayer leaves something to be desired, with Xbox Live support for up to 8 players only, and the maps are small and encourage a lot of camping, often leading to boring matches. Modes include DM/TDM (but no CTF), Last Man Standing, and "Bounty", where the goal is to kill the current Bounty, thus placing a new Bounty on your own head, and then stay alive as long as possible while the Bounty, the winner being the player who stays alive as the Bounty the longest.

The main thing this game has going for it is the western theme, as there really isn't any other game like it out right now. But that will change soon, as Rockstar Games has acquired Red Dead Revolver from Capcom, and are "enhancing" the game to bring it in line with Rockstar's other more mature titles, such as Max Payne and GTA.

I like this game. Especially the horseback riding. But it isn't for everyone. I was just begining to get tired of the war shooters and space wars. Rent it first, unless your a Spaghetti Western buff like me, then it is required playing.
