Don't know why Gonzaga is fussing, #6 seed is as high as they ever been, and what worthy opponent has Gonzaga played this year besides losing to Marquette?

Book a stronger schedule.

That's the thing...They CAN'T book a stronger schedule. It's possible, but really, what big program wants to bring Gonzaga to their place?? You beat 'em...so what, you were supposed to - it's just GONZAGA for Chrissakes.

But you lose to 'em,(which a LOT of Major D1 teams would have this year) and the program gets to listen to the grumblings and groanings of the masses about how they can't wait for football season.

The Zags deserved better, IMO.

Hmm...what about their wins over St. Johns, Pepperdine, and Texas, all in the tourney this year? They also played Illinois, but lost.

i'm sorry if your ranked #6 in the ap poll then you deserve a hell of a lot better than a 6 seed in the regional. the committee really screwed up this year. #6 is higher than they have ever been.... but the point is they deserved at least a #3 seed.

Yes, CajunMan, how DARE they play in a mid-major. They beat Pepperdine twice this year, the second best team in the WCC, the only team in-conference who beat them this year, and after going 3-2 in their first 5 games, they're 26-1. Maybe I should repeat that. 26-1. Show me a team more consistent over their last 27 games this year, outside of a 1 seed - actually, including a 1 seed. If you can, I will be throughly impressed. And please, don't respond with anything resembling the whole "quality of play" thing. They outscored their conference opponents, on average, by 16 points. Also, any given team, on any given day, can lose to an inferior opponent. Examples: Duke losing to Florida St., LA Lakers losing to the Memphis Grizzlies. Gonzaga brought their A game all season.

I'm sure the strong major conferences would just love to bring a Gonzaga team hungry for national respect to their place, and then go out to Spokane and play them next year. Those aren't exactly money games, and what team's going to risk putting blemishes on their pre-conference schedule if they can help it? Face the facts - the 'Zags are a very good team. How many times must they make the Sweet 16 before people believe?

Not only did the Zags get shafted on the seed, they got sent down to Albequerque instead of the pod in Sacramento...much closer to Spokane.

And the Golden Boys from Gonzaga are OUT. I hate Gonzaga. My Illini dominated them in our first game of the year, so I guess we are a program that wants to bring them to our place. They had a great rest of the season, but a first round exit spells trouble for all the mid-major bandwagon jumpers. Of course, USC, Miami, and Marquette are out, too, so who knows what's going on. My question is, why does everyone think the West is such a great bracket? Cincinnati is the weakest #1 seed out here. Oklahoma and Arizona are a tough 2 and 3 but other than that, the bracket sucks. You want tough? Look at the potential road for the Illini to get out of the Midwest. SDSU-Florida-Kansas-Oregon. Now that is a tough road. And now that USC is out, who is going to beat Duke in the South?

Of course, you have to also remember that the Illini are going to be basically playing at home for what, the first two of their games? And yes, the South is the weakest of all four regions and Duke has nobody who has shown they can play on their level. Of course, when they now have to play 3 more games against opponents who are looking to upset them, things can turn out differently. That's what March Madness is all about. And if UNC-Wilmington can beat USC, they can beat Duke, dammit!

i dunno.... today gave me the feeling that anybody could be upset. Duke was the only team that seemed to absolutely dominate.... no contest.
