That's not a bad idea. Why can't the WWF do that in front of millions with all the top stars?

Because ONLY the internet people would watch. The other fan are watching for the nWo. I'm sorry, but it's true. No non-internet fan wants to see Kidman v Helms.

To answer the "why can't the WWF do that?" question:

because no one would care. I mean sure we'd watch it, but those 1.4 Raw ratings wouldn't exactly be big with the front office.

So if we pay for the PPV, that will make Nash, Hall, and Hogan wrestle better?

That board meeting crap didn't make any sense either. McMahon is going to argue that Flair is ruining the company and is disgraceful for attacking a fan, but the board just HAPPENED to overlook McMahon saying he wants to inject poison in the WWF for 3-4 weeks. Uhh?

No. You paying for WrestleMania is an affirmation of everything that's going on in the WWF. By giving Vince McMahon your money, you are saying "I like what I am seeing on free TV, and want to see how it pays off." If you don't like what you see, DON'T get the pay-per-view, DON'T watch the free TV shows, and for god's sake, DON'T bitch so much about it.

Why does everyone assume that non internet people don't want to see wrestling? I don't know how psyched I'd be to see Kidman/Helms either, but I'm pretty sure most fans could get into Angle/Edge for 8 or so minutes, or maybe Triple H/Storm for about 10. If the match has enough heat fans will buy it. Hell, I bet a lot of people would be entertained by Hogan/Big Show for 8-10 minutes if it had a clean finish. I'm not saying throw out all the sports entertainment, but don't dumb down the average fan either. Wrestling is still the main draw here.

I'll watch the show and praise it when it is good and "bitch" when it is bad. When they are sucking ass I don't buy the PPV. It's that simple. I'll tell ya what else I won't do. I won't make 445 posts with the attitude that everything Vince shits is gold.

You know, you can say what you want about their movelists, but the fact is Hogan and Nash didn't look bad at all on the workrate level. I will concede that Hall carried the team, but for what they contributed Hogan and Nash seemed perfectly capable of keeping up with Austin and The Rock, in terms of pure physicality if not wrestling skill. Nash's performance may not have been on par with his Diesel days, but it was still passable. And Hogan actually looked better than he did during Hulkamania, almost twenty years ago.

People need to take the smark goggles off and admit that yes, it is possible for Hogan and Nash to have a good match.

But that's just the thing. Most (and I say MOST) common wrestling fans are fans of the characters and the storylines. NOT the wrestling. I remember being a little kid and a HUGE Hulkamaniac when I was a kid and watching WrestleMania 3. To me then, the best match on the card was Hogan/Andre. Hands down. No questions. Why? Because I was so enrapted in that story, would Hulk Hogan be able to beat the huge evil Giant?

Now, looking back, my favorite match from WM3 is Savage/Steamboat. But I honestly wonder for how many people that would be true.

I mean, I understand why the WWF is pushing the Jericho/HHH match the way they are, and it's not why you think. Because it really IS about HHH/Stephanie. To pretty much everybody. It's not about the belts. It's not about Chris Jericho.

It's about the fact that in 1999, HHH "married" Stephanie McMahon and became a huge bad guy. But he's too cool to be bad so now he's a good guy, but his wife is a huge (in more ways than one) bad guy still. Fans want to see HER get beat down. Barring that for the purposes of good taste, they'd like to to see her new boy toy get beaten. Circumstances have it that that man is Chris Jericho.

That MAKES for compelling televison. We just happen to hate Steph for different reasons and know that she has "backstage pull". Other people hate Steph because she's a whiny annoying bitch. Honest.

So while we'd like to see Chris Jericho and HHH go out and have a story based on which one of them is better, or based on THEM, we're seeing the culmination of two years of storyline. Stephanie and Jericho will get theirs and then we can go back to having feuds about the wrestlers. WE may not like it, but there is a market for that stuff.

The match was booked brilliantly. Scott Hall carried his team by wrestling the majority of the match - exposing neither Nash or Hogan. Hulk Hogan put more effort into that match then I've seen from him in ages. He will NEVER be a great wrestler, and I'll NEVER expect him to be one. But a hard working Hulk Hogan is someone I can certainly be happy watching. Kevin Nash also seemed on top of his game.

The one person who seemed off, of all people, was Steve Austin.

I will NOT judge what's to come on the pay-per-view from this one match.

The only conclusion about ANYTHING I can make from this match, is that no matter how bad we feel about the build up to Hulk Hogan and The Rock - that match is going to have incredible crowd heat.

Excalibur, just for a bit of diversion. When I was a little kid, I picked NWA/WCW over WWF b/c I liked their wrestling better. And because I knew Sting could take Warrior and Hogan's asses anyday. As for fans not enjoying great wrestling. When WCW/NWA was at its peaks their wrestling was usually great.

Anyway excalibur, HHH vs. Stephanie is NOT compelling television. Its stupid television. This could have been such a great feud like Jericho/Rock last year, but WWF dropped the ball. The interview HHH and Jericho had the night after the Royal Rumble got me really excited about this feud. Now WWF has made Jericho second fiddle to Stephanie which is just plain stupid. Did anyone else like it better when Jericho was on his own ridiculing Flair and the Rock on RAW? I thought that was more entertaining and more compelling. HHH/Jericho could be the best match on the card even if it is not going to be the main event, but with Stephanie there, I don't know.

I considered Hogan's performance last night "decent" because he actually seemed to be putting an effort into it. Yeah, it was the same old Hulk Hogan moves, but at least he wasn't just going through the motions. As opposed, once again, to Nash, who proved again last night that he'll never lose the title of Laziest Man in Wrestling.

It's the same way that I never really hated Viscera, because despite his general shittiness as a wrestler, I always got the feeling that he really was trying as hard as he could. Didn't mean I sat there going, "Oh boy! A Viscera match! I don't wanna miss that!", but neither did I join in the Internet calls for him to be killed and his body mass used to fertilize several acres of farmland.

The one thing that I will remember from last night's main event was Nash not being able to take a Thesz Press properly. Now let's all examine the dynamics of this move:

1. Wrestler A runs at Wrestler B
2. Wrestler A leaps into the air directly onto Wrestler B
3. Wrestler B falls to the ground back first with Wrestler A on top of him.

I saw those crazy Tough Enough kids learning how to fall flat on their back. Surely the ring rust shouldn't have corroded even that bit of Big Kev's repetoire.

And as for the statement that wrestling won't draw ratings, I believe also one of the highest rated segments in Raw history was a 10 man tag match involving such smark icons as Perry Saturn, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko. Wrestling will draw very good ratings if you give people a reason to care about why the wrestling is happening.

Well the main event was very sloppy and many of the moves and bumps looked sissy. But at least it was a fairly fast-paced matchup, and with Hogan and Nash involved that's somewhat of an achievement.

And I'm not sure who will win out of Hogan/Rock at 'mania, but after that finish we can be 110% sure that Rocky kicks out of the leg drop. Hell, since it's mania he'll probably kick out 3 times.

That show would have been okay if Steph was absent and if the board vignettes were cut shorter. At least it looked like they were trying to fix-up some of the mess they made in the 'mania buildup. The show gave me the slightest hope that Wrestlemania could be worth watching, that certainly wasn't the case over the past few weeks.

I think Austin either broke or jammed the fingers of his left hand. that is what was throwing him off of his match since he was obviously trying to protect it.

Well, even if everyone else hates the nWo and will diss everything they do or say, I FOR ONE like the nWo including Nash and Hogan.
When Nash did the powerbomb on The Rock two weeks ago, did you hear the pop? It was a cool image - Nash about to do the move, rageful look on his face, totally into it.
Last night when Nash was tagged the first time, did you hear the pop? The crowd digs Kevin Nash. He's cool. He looks cool, he beats people's assess...what more do the average fans want? Rock and Austin sold his punches and stuff so well, they put his power over more than the Big Show's.
Hogan did look rusty, but come on, HE'S THE REAL AMERICAN. HE FIGHTS FOR THE RIGHTS OF EVERY MAN!!!

I'm looking forward to Wrestlemania. The stare-down between Rock and Hogan will be immortalized...right up there with the Andre stare-down.

we can analyze all the moves and who sold what the shittiest... but parts unknown has a point... the crowd is popping for hogan and nash along with austin and rock... they want to see all this... and you have to admit even as shitty as the wrestling is in some peoples opionion a lot of people are excited to be seeing this happen.
