Yeah, but I gotta give the honor to Honky, mainly because he STILL refers to himself as the "greatest Intercontinental champion of all time."

Clinging onto past glories will get you the duke every time, in my book.

OK I'll give that to you. He was damn entertaining wasn't he? I was just thinking about the match where he lost the title to Warrior. He came out & got on the mike & said "Get me somebody out here to wrestle I don't care who it is!"
Then while he was strutting around the Warrior's music hit & the look on his face was priceless. Plus he took the ass-whipping & the pin while still wearing his Elvis jumpsuit!
Awesome! Not to mention his work in turning Savage face & the heat he got from shoving Elizabeth. OK I change my vote!

but i think we all know that the Rock is the "best damn intercontinental champ, there ever was"

I'll have way agree with that. Even though they haven't won the IC title a lot of times i'd say either The Rock or Stone Cold was the best IC champion, and their feud against each other was the best IC feud I can remember. Of course the reason they were not IC champion as many times as the rest was because they moved on to bigger things.

Ahhh, the days when the IC title was important.

He was, this is true. He could even share the title... for a little while.

The only time that Austin and the Rock feuded against each other over the IC belt was in late 1997 during the period where Austin was still severely limited by his neck injury. They had a few good promos, but the blowoff match was nothing special and Rocky moved onto a feud with Shamrock very quickly.

The Quintessential Intercontinental Champion was...

Mr. Perfect.

But all-around of the modern era...Randy Savage all the way.

You're right. That was a memorable feud, but it was the promos that made it memorable, not the actual matches.

If I remember correctly, The Rock never actually beat Austin for the IC Title. That was the angle in which Austin threw the IC Title belt off a bridge and into a river after Vince McMahon demanded that he give the belt to The Rock.

That angle has been used for a few other angles since then.

I couldn't resist

[borrowed from some geocities fanpage when I google searched "Austin Rock bridge belt regulator"]

"It's a beautiful night, you see the moon shining bright up there, you see the cars rolling back and forth over there, but you ain't got no one on this bridge with Stone Cold Steve Austin with the intercontinental championship belt. Now Rock when i gave you this belt,i did just that, you didn't have to earn a damn thing. Well tonight son if ya wanna find it i got a few things i'm going to give ya first,if you're gonna find it you're going to need a few objects, you're gonna need a little mask so that you can see under the water, you're gonna need a little snorkel, hell son you might even need a regulator because you're gonna have to go deep, now i got your ass a little oxygen tank, but i doubt if there's any oxygen in the damn thing,so nonetheless, throw the damn thing in, and i tell you what rock, here's your little flippers cause you probably can't swim worth a damn either, here's a cell phone, when you find the damn thing, dial my number, and here's a pager, when ya dial me,tell me when you find your little belt,i'll page ya back with the 3:16 and give you the big thumbs up,Rock, you're the biggest piece of trash i ever saw,it hurts me to do this but, i really don't give a damn about you or the WWF so i guess i'll see your little belt later, and that's the bottom line, because the 3,1,6 said so.........ya piece of trash"
