What a friggin' mess. So many angles to discuss here.
I am beside myself, watching the black congressional congress on television blame the United States for somehow destroying Haitian democracy. What a rancid, racist organization. None of these people gave a rat's ass about Iraq, where we at least had an arguable national interest. But now, when Haiti is in the midst of it's THIRTY-!(@^%$-THIRD violent coup, Charlie Rangell is up on his soapbox. Absolutely disgusting, that he uses these sorts of events for political gain, and only when it involves people of his skin color. These people have no principles; Rangell, et. al., are not committed to the spread of democracy. They are not principled non-interventionists. They are craven politicians who are coarsening everything they touch. They should welcome Aristide into their ranks, though, as he's also blamed "white America" and its "white military." Perhaps he didn't notice all the black people outside his window trying to oust his ass from power. We have absolutely no business sending American boys to risk their asses in a country that can't get its collective head out of its own ass.

Haiti has been a mess for over 200 years. The French screwed it up initially, and anytime we have intervened in the last century its been ineffective at best. The best option now is peacekeepers and hope that the chief justice is semi-competant. As for the Congressional Black Caucus, they make Al Sharpton look good. Because at least with Sharpton you know where you stand going in.
