An incredibly evil thought occured to me while watching tonight's SD. You think they're just giving Eddie Guerrero the transitional reign? You know, just to transfer the belt to Kurt Angle? Kinda like Rikishi/Scotty (Horrible comparison, I know, but bare with me)? I hope they don't want to degrade their top belt to "transitional" level, but then again, I also didn't see Rikishi and Scotty, my World Tag Champs. They've done it before, remember Kane's 1-day reign? And Yokozuna at WMX? I'm a bit worried...

I think you mean IX there, but I do detect the aroma of your culinary efforts.

The way I see it, Eddie was given the belt just so he can drop it to Kurt at WrestleMania who will then in turn lose it to Cena at the next Smackdown PPV. So yeah I guess that unfortunately makes him a transitional champ as well as Angle for that matter if what I said really happens.

Ok, everbody on this board has an opinion, I will say most them are pretty insightful and might agree with me that we don't think Angle will picks up the strap at Mania. Yet nothing I believe is set in stone. Just like last year we though Booker was going to pull it off until that last minute change to have HHH go OVER. Eh, anyway you look at it Eddie is lucky to have the honor to hold that strap any way you look at it.

Ya gotta figure he's got a few viable opponents before he hands it over. Now I dunno where their next 3-4 PPV's are gonna be at, because it seems the WWE likes to play different scenarios depending on the state and city they are in at the time. But I figure Lesnar and Angle get one more shot each before Lesnar gets it back, so maybe 3 months. I problem is I don't see a viable third heel. I don't think The Big Show is a viable option at this point, so unless someone steps it up I don't see them having too many opponents for Eddie before they need to move the title onto someone else.

Cena turns heel, maybe, but it's too early for him to turn or to be a world champion.

Edge is going to RAW, so says Meltz and 95% of the IWC.

They could work one HELL of an angle with Tazz vs. Eddie but of course that's not gonna happen.

Rhyno would need an uber-push to be considered a money player at this point.

Mr. McMahon? It could happen but I doubt that too.

So I'd say, he beats Angle, maybe he beats Lesnar, then a triple threat where he drops it to one of the two. It's repetitive but I don't see nothing else for them.

How can you say Eddie is lucky to have the honor to hold the strap? Eddie deserves that title for busting his ass all these years and being one of the very best in the business today. I can't think of anyone in the WWE, besides maybe Benoit, who deserves the belt more than Eddie. Either way I hope you and most of the other people on this board who don't think Angle is walking out of Mania with the title, I hope you are right. I just have a bad feeling about the direction they might be heading.

I think Eddie is SO over that he may be stuck in the ME scene. Not many WWE guys get the crowd standing that much during in ring action and promos. Pretty much Just Rocky, Stone Cold, and Foley recently.

They're all transitional. Hopefully WWE has enough of it's act together to have plans for that title a few months in advance.

Maybe I'm asking too much there.

Um, Yokozuna's reign going into WMX was 8 months long. Helluva long transitional reign.

Eddy is one of the few real draws in the company, especially in the Hispanic demographic. If that trend continues, then no, he won't be a transitional champ.

It was a transitional reign. However, the reason it lasted so long was because it was acting as a conduit to change from one generation to the other. Keep in mind that he defeated Hogan for that belt and eventually lost it to Bret Hart at WM10, where they made the official choice to make Bret their top star. Yokozuna's sole purpose in beating Hogan at KOTR '93 was to be the guy that the leader of the New Guard needed to defeat. It's the "Sword in the Stone" approach.

Bret Hart was a transitional champion heading into WM9, too, and acted as a vehicle to get the belt back on Hogan with Yokozuna getting a reign in between. It wasn't until Bret's WM10 reign that he started to become a more serious champion that the WWF got behind. Until The Clique came around.

We'll see if Eddy is a transitional champion. Whether he wins or loses at WMXX will decide that. I really don't see what WWE has to gain by going with another Angle reign, though.

Simple, first off his size and wieght. Secondly, wrestling politics tend dictate who is the champion and who isn't. Sorta like someone said in post I read a few days ago, "The sqeaky wheel tends to get the oil." Anyways, I am not taking into account his outstanding wrestling and entertainment ablitly. Mainly the basis was on backstage stuff that could hinder somebody like Eddie. Yes he has busted his butt of in the business to get where he is but I'm take that away from him. Another one of the reasons I use the term "Lucky".

How long was his riegn? Nine days?!? That really doesn't compare does it? Eh, well, I'll throw out the 24 hour Kane riegn.
