So a guy who's got a six year, 35 million dollar contract is trying to buy cocaine for his friend, PLUS he "taxes" it so he can make some money on top of it. I guess that big contract just wasn't enough.

It never ceases to amaze me how pro athletes mess up good things (Rae Carruth, Dexter Manley, Willie Mayes Aikens, etc...)

If I'm a Raven with the last name Lewis, I might think it wise to stay as far away from Atlanta as possible.

Being a University of Tennessee fan ... what the hell is it with former UT players not being able to stay out of trouble? Leonard Little, Dwayne Goodrich and now this?

UT is getting worse than Florida State.

Shit shit shit shit shit shit SHIT SHIT SHIT

Of course, Ray Lewis was innocent, so I have hope.

I have less hope because:

a. This is a federal charge
b. This is Jamal's hometown
c. This is before his fist two positive drug tests
d. Chester Taylor can't handle 16 games as the starter

Combine this with the CU stuff and all the other crap in college and pro ball and one has to wonder what the hell is goin on with the football culture in this country. Maybe its time to treat them like real people, not prima donnas.

To be fair, Leonard Little pleaded, did his time, and has been a model citizen here in St Louis ever since his DUI conviction.

Was he going to be on the cover? If so, damn, that sucks. I'm a bit relieved, however, as I was very very sure that it was going to be Priest Holmes.

I don't know any more than anyone else, but you'd have to think that if there was a list boiled down to 4-5 candidates that until yesterday Lewis' name was on it.

I'd think it would have been Manning, McNair, Holmes, Jamal Lewis or Ray Lewis. I'd say Brady, but he had the endorsement deal with 989.

Actually Ray Lewis pled guilty to a lesser charge of obstruction of justice and received only probation in exchange for his testimony. The two guys on trial for murder were found innocent, however.

I thought he did his time for a vehicular manslaughter conviction, not just a simple DUI...?

I would hope that killing someone while driving drunk would be enough of a sobering experience (pun kinda not intended ;-) that Little WOULD be a model citizen from here on out!!

If I recall correctly, Little plead to the DUI, and the other was dismissed, but I may be mistaken, either way, he is a quiet, reserved guy, and has done his time, no matter how much it was reduced by his status, he did it, and didnt complain.

*edit* I was wrong:
In June 1999, Little was sentenced to 90 days in jail, 1,000 hours of community service, and placed on probation for four years after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the drunken-driving death of Susan
Gutweiler, 47, of Oakville. The crash occurred in October 1998.

I agree that he served his time & answered for his crime, I just think it's sad that instead of being able to admire these people for who they are, we have to settle for admiring the way they do their time...
