The reason: He is a 5time, 5time, 5...sorry!...ic and a 2time tag champ by now (add hardcore and european titles if you want to) and theres nothing left to do for him in the midcard, right?

So you can either bury or fire him now or push him to a world title run!

But not with Benoit, Michaels, Booker (maybe Foley) and Jericho on the same side.

Turn him heel now! Let him turn on Booker in a very shocking way!
Let him shoot about his current situation in wwe (but not in a way the fans could identify with and like)!

RVD had and would have great matches with Benoit, Michaels and Jericho. And it would be something new as far as the main event picture is concerned.

Of course that scenario would only be possible if Triple H takes some major time off for Hollywood!

Thoughts?

RVD? Heel? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Ahem...seriously. How COULD RVD be heel? I could see a neutral turn for him, but definetly not a heel turn.

Yes, I thought about that possibility as well!
But Cena seems to be their next logical pick for that big push.
How about a double push like 1998 with Rock and Mankind who received their first big title pushes together in a series of matches?
Just dont let the title change hands that often!

Yeah. I could never see RVD heel after he has been built up as this major babyface after his feuds with Kane.

He fits in with the Dudleyz. They have too many pet moves the fans love (with RVD, it's Rolling Thunder at the "points to self) for the fans to boo them.

Maybe, maybe, JUUUST maybe if he chaired all of the top faces on either brand or both, pulled a Scott Stiener on the first AND second rows, Vandaminatored everything in sight and ran over 5 grandmothers...

...he MIGHT be able to be booed for about a week.

I think it would be a great idea, actually. The timing for it is right as well.

RVD has always had an arrogant persona which really hasn't been played up because WWE never really does anything his personality. But I think if he were allowed to play up his 'everybody wants to be RVD' factor, especially while stil a team with Booker T, you may have something there.

I know that RVD is a terrible talker, and that's part of the reason you can only push him so far. That's fine; have him talk very little, and when he does get the mic, just have him reiterate over and over again that he can do whatever he wants, because he's 'R-V-D'. Eventually, that will start to get on people's nerves.

Anyways, I'm all for it...

But didn't RVD, even as a heel in ECW, still play to the fans? If they put him against the right face, the fans would buy him has a heel. They're not as hot for him as they were in 2001 (way to capitalize on that, WWE!!).

If nothing else, it would give RVD something to do besides just cycling through his moveset. At the very least, maybe he'd have to vary it a little, with some eye pokes or low blows. Since that's what REAL heels do!

I agree, I just can't really see RVD as a heel. He's been a midcard face for so long, his over status really based only on his moveset. He'd have to completely change his style, because crowds will cheer for those crazy looking moves no matter what.
But then again, most of his stuff is getting pretty old and cliched, switching stuff up would probbaly be good for him. Only question is whether or not RVD is willing to change his style so much.

The fans will not boo RVD if he drowns kittens in the middle of the ring. And then fights against Jericho. In Canada. With a flamethrower.

You can't make heel and face turns just because it is convienent. RVD needs a change, sure, but a heel turn will not be accepted.

In ECW he was a heel for the longest time then it was sorta like a arrogant Micheals heel. Then they did sorta of Austin like turn with him because everbody got behind him with thumbs and yes the move-set.

Now, I think a turn might endanger any he has. He has been face for quite a while. Yet somehow it could freshen him up a bit. Mabe a losing streak like the did with Jeff and make him tween a bit to see what kind of reaction he gets.

In addition to it being against any babyface Canadian, in Montreal, ending in a screwjob, and buddy up with Vinny Mac and Earl for a celebration afterward. Then maybe the plan would advance to fans in a confused silence.

I don't think it's necessary to turn him, just DO something with him. If he would have received constant build-ups, and not being pushed down the card every two weeks, he wouldn't have this midcard image. And I don't think his in-ring style works for a heel anyway. So just give him a meaningful feud instead of jobbing him out all the time.

OR if he were to run over Austin, back up, hit him again, back up, hit him again, then drive into the ambulance but not before driving around ringside and taking out the first 10 rows, there wouldn't so much be booing so much as the muttering of "how much shit did he smoke today?"

I think they should embrace RVD's 420 style over turning him heel.

This is something I'd like to see as well. Alfonzo and Sabu get a lot of the credit for Rob's past heel success but RVD did seem more natural in the role than as "everything is cool guy". He was subtle enough and shallow enough to crack me up at least once per promo:

"And all the ugly, toothless retards that are out there booing... oh, no offense Fonzie."

If you threw him a manager like Bill Alphonso or Teddy Long and had him really over do the posing during the match AND put him against a red hot babyface like Eddy or Cena you might get the crowd to boo him for awhile. Eventually though RVD would just become to 'cool' to boo like Austin, Rock or Cena. I think if the WWE really got behind him and made him to cool for school they'd really have someone that they could cash in on for a couple of years. Whether you like RVD or not you have to admit the WWE is nuts for not really seeing where they can go with him. He may be the biggest wasted money making opportunity that they have right now.
