That reminds me - if you find that your popup stopper is stopping that popup

Actually, the hard work was completely wasted. I gave up on the way that I had been working this at around 11pm last night and went a completely different route. This spell checker uses the same back-end component (GNU Aspell) but a completely different front end approach.
I prefer this one.
I didn't write the javascript pop-up window. That's all part of Speller Pages. Here's a handy link if you are interested. http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/25134.html .
I still need to make sure that linking to this doesn't put the entire board code under the GPL - if it does, I probably have to pull the spell checker since we don't own 100% of the board code.

Well, I think that means that it only applies to the portion of the code directly involved with spell checking, and not to any pages that call the spell checker. That's how I'm reading it, anyway. I'll be glad to remove it if there is a different meaning that I'm not getting.
Here's the thing though - while it says that it is GPL on the hostscripts site, the download I got from Sourceforge has no license info at all, nor does Sourceforge say what license it is under. I'm wondering if this is actually even GPLd. It may just be free code (which would also be pretty cool).

The checker is great & I know it would be a pain to set up a total custom word list, but as a start would it be tough to add all of the registered usernames to the dictionary...? :-) | Guru Zim
