Movie websitte is here.

Hopefully they will do a good job with this one vs. the "Night of the Living Dead" remake. The original "Dawn" is one of my favorite horror movies of all time.

There was nothing wrong whatsoever with the Night Of The Living Dead remake. Tom Savini kept things nice and taut with the cirection, and Tony Todd and Tom Towles were really, really good. This, however....ehhh. It seems they've gone for a straightforward pulpy horror as opposed to the social commentary that came with the original, which is fine, but I wish they wouldn't do it under the banner of a remake. It's like The TCM do-over-it would have been infinitely easier for me to enjoy it if it had just been renamed and peddled as a slightly ripped-off original product. Sticking the original names on these films automatically invites comparisons, and the modern-day retreads just can't hold up.

Well, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" had a throughly needless, stupid, remake, so it convinced some idiot with money that that money could be made from a neutered remake. Bet Gus Van Sant is kicking himself for not waiting to remake "Psycho" now.

I'd love to have heard how that pitch went:

"Hey, let's remake a movie so godawfully violent and gory that it had to be released unrated, but cut out all the stuff that made people like the original! And put a hot chick in the movie so the audience has the false hope she'll get naked, but like, doesn't."

"Smitty, you're a fucking genius!" *SMOOCH!*

TCM and the Dead movies worked because they looked low down and dirty. They had an element of realism. Plus people in garish 70's clothes died.

Hollywood doesn't deal like that, unfortunately. At least the NOLD remake had a lot of the people who worked on the original involved.

As pointless as it was to do it, the Texas Chainsaw remake was pretty well done and enjoyable. The Dawn remake, however, looks like shit.

I have heard about the script that it basically sucks ass

Not too shocking considering the moron who wrote it was the same guy who did "Scooby Doo" and the director is a first-timer (I guess he usually does music videos?!?!).

I have read interviews by Romero and Savini who seemingly want to distance themselves from the re-make

It's sad that pieces of shit like this and House of the Dead get made while I read the final Dead Romero script "Dead Reckoning" and it looks like a movie that would kick total ass (he said he could make it for about 20 million)

"I have read interviews by Romero and Savini who seemingly want to distance themselves from the re-make"

I've read the Romero comments, but Savini is in the "Dawn" remake, so I'm not sure that he's "distancing" himself from it. In fact, he's in the newest trailer for the movie (He's the dude who say "Shoot them in the head!" or something like that).

I'm not so sure about it. Why call it "Dawn"? I think that leads to too many high expectations. It's not even at the Monroeville Mall (which still looks remarkably similar to the way it did in "Dawn".

And am I the only one who is sick of zombies that do kung fu and can move fast? Zombies shuffle, dammit! And they don't kick or punch, they bite and tear and moan and can be outrun quite easily.

On a semi-side note Max Brooks' book "The Zombie Survival Guide" is one of the funniest books I've ever read on the subjects of Zombies, while still being a little unsettling. And before you ask, yes he IS Mel Brooks' son.

Are the Zombies driving a truck at one point in the trailer? It looks like they are.

I agree that this will probably rate somewhere between ass and goat's ass. It has a very "28 Days Later" feel to it, except that it's about zombies, and is an unecessary remake of a fine movie. And wont be as good as "28 Days Later."
