Although the Lone Gunmen was up there, mainly because the X-Files was starting to suck at that point, and it was nice to see fresh life from characters in that series.
Another Scott Bakula show that I was disappointed to see leave was "Mr. & Mrs. Smith". Of course at the time I was only getting one channel, and I'm sure Maria Bello didn't hurt matters any, so my memories of the show may be kinder than what it deserves.
I also am having Ed withdrawals. Yeah Ed was a wussy, but the writing was clever enough.
Speaking of wussy, I still crack everytime I think of Stacy Keach say "Stop being such a wussy" to his son "Titus". (Yeah it probably had jumped the shark by the time it went off the air, but I miss my wussy fix...) | Nag

Was there a better cop show than this? Ever? Law and Order, and even The Shield can't compare to Homicide. In its prime (pretty much its entire run) it was a show to behold. And Andre Braugher and Kyle Secor going after someone in the box? True must see TV.
Man, at least there's one other person out there who's feeling what I'm feeling. It's driving me crazy that the shows are NEVER on TV anymore. For a while, Court TV was showing re-runs. Now nobody does. Worse, the DVDs are expensive. The DVD set for seasons one and two is sixty bucks for only FOUR discs. And the sound is terrible. That's an unacceptable price.
Oh, and TNT showing the Law & Order/Homicide back-to-back crossover shows is nice, but it's just such a horrible tease.

| #29 Posted on 22.2.04 2228.12 Reposted on: 22.2.11 2228.17 | I remember reading that the reason all those Nick shows were cancelled (or more accurately, stopped production on) was because kids will watch shows not caring if they're new or not, so if the network gets 3 or 4 seasons worth, there is no point in doing more. (I hope that made sense)
As for cancelled shows I liked, the shows that used to be on USAM come to mind, like Boston Common and Ned and Stacey. I still catch N&S on WE, and I think it's absolutely hilarious. And of course, Family Guy.

What really upset was VH1 getting rid of Late World with Zack after what seemed like 5 episodes. Most of the other shows I would say have already been listed and/or are syndicated. Although SciFi actually stopped showing MST3K reruns. I might actually have to buy those DVDs.

My favorite memory of "Manimal". I'm watching it in a dorm room with a bunch of friends, one of whom has a major crush on the male star. Show goes to a commercial break. Just before it comes back on, there's a truly classic voice-over promo, one that still reduces me to helplessness after twenty years:
"Parts of 'Manimal' are brought to you by Burger King."

"Great Scott" (1992) starring then-nobody Tobey Maguire -- lasted all of six episodes before it was cruelly taken away from me and the five other people who watched it. Seven more were shot but never aired. I care too much about this stupid series ... this stupid series THAT I LOVED
"Bakersfield P.D." (1993-4) starring the DREAM TEAM of Ron Eldard and Giancarlo Esposito (later reunited on "Homicide" for one MAGIC episode) -- lasted 17 episodes that brought tears to my eyes with their brilliance and majesty
Somehow the disgusting yet compulsively watchable "Friends" ripoff "Down the Shore" (1992-3) outperformed both of these series with a sexifying 29 EPISODES! -- none of which I can remember a thing about, other than that they were magnetic television entertainment. And yet I've never been able to sit through an episode of "Friends." | The King of Keith
