That's too funny because I feel the same way about the guy. A lot of top politicians are pricks and do stuff you don't agree with but the good ones have a cunningness or a slyness to give you a load of bullcrap but convince you that it's good for you and I'm not saying that's a good or bad but it is a quality that the good politicians have to make people not totally despise you.
Bush doesn't have that ability at all, he comes off as so insincere to anyone who's not 100% behind him which is such a main reason that I personally not seen a U.S president so despised around the world & even in his own country. I've seen U.S presidents get picked on & not liked but never seen the intensity of heat that Bush gets... The thing is, he doesn't seem to care. This guy kind of lives in a concrete dome and not caring about anyone else thinks. A good example is the Halliburton thing. He was getting alot of heat by forcing himself into Iraq, alot of people thinking he went there for the wrong reasons. He keeps responding they are there for the right reasons & everyone who's criticizing him are so out in left field & without merit. Then just days later he gives the Iraq oil contract to his buddies at Halliburton which makes everyone say "Coooome on, your not even trying" | Cerrita

As AWA can testify to, I am not a "W" suporter. However, every person that much in the limelight says stupid things. It's inevitable and human. I agree that "W" isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he isn't an idiot. Many people's strongest suit isn't public speaking, especially when having to speak off the cuff. | Madame Manga

IMO opinion Gore gave that election away at the debates. he knew the material Backwards and forwards, but he just came off like a complete prick. Bush played up being a nice down to earth guy and I think thats what won it for him. This is where I think Edwards could be a better candidate than Kerry, I think people wouild feel more comfortable with him, he seems like a nice guy. In general, if you are going to criticize someone for not speaking proper English, I would at least write said criticism in proper English. It is far easier to write in proper, grammatically correct English than to speak it.

You left out Herbert Hoover and Richard Nixon, which are generally considered two consensus "bad" Presidents. Nixon kind of falls into the same boat as Clinton for me though - i.e. they were good except for that whole "breaking the law" thing. I'd also put William McKinley on that list (the inventor of the "lets make up a bullshit excuse to go to war" method of Foreign Policy). Combine that with the fact that he was also a complete tool of the robber-barons, and I think you've got the President Jr. takes after the most. Time will only tell who screwed up our country more.

I pretty much agree but Van Buren was a shill for the New York political machine. My real point is we have had plenty of lousy Presidents. Nixon is a real conumdrum. He accomplished some incredible things that were overshadowed by his paranoia. Grant falls into that category of actally accomplishing some real good but having it overshaodowed by the bad. |
