I was talking to the lovely lady behind the counter and she said that Bruce is currently in love with this batch of booze. And lemme tellya, it IS pretty swanky. It's got the big 11% alcohol hidden behind a super-dry hoppy taste but the tartness at the end keeps it from ever getting too fruity (as in Smuttynose Barleywine World's Worst Limade Taste of Hoppy Hate). For your 10%+ boozes, this one carries it's BIG BUSINESS in a way the other Barleywines I've quaffed this week- Sierra Nevada Bigfoot 04, Victory's Old Horizontal (which DID fucking rule), and the unfortunate Smuttynose offering- simply could not. God, it's so fucking smooth and them the akahaul burns into your chest and you realize that this bitch has nails. It fucking rules. Worthy of destroying your liver! HERE HERE!
BOOZE~!

DR: It's Brooklyn Brewery- they also make the DIVINE Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout. Mmmmmmmmmmm.
Monster is the best barleywine I've had so far. (Which isn't really saying much, but it is.) | evilwaldo

Mmmmmmmm King Cobra.....
And Bells has not gotten here yet. I am going through Kalamazoo the next time I go to Canada just to see what all the fuss is, though. | Dawg

Seriously, Bell's is the best microbrew I've ever had and probably one of the best American beers you will find.

I've been in the Kazoo area for just under three years now and I've yet to have a bad adult beverage from Bell. Their stout is one of the two best I've ever had (the other being a special chocolate oatmeal stout I encountered at a brewpub down in Indy about eight or nine years ago). The only problem with their tour is that you do eventually have to leave.

Oh yeah, over at the DVDVR board, anytime I post a Booze Review, some Midwesterner always eventually comes on and says, "Yeah that's good, but Bell's makes a Oatmeal Rasberry Stout that 47% and smokes that like a cheap cigar." I am serious about driving through Kalamazoo to try it. I gotta gaaaaaal, in Kalamazoooooo. I don't mean to boast but I hear she's the toast of Kalamazoooo.... | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
