Meanwhile, Kim again astounds with her move of not telling ANYONE that there is a dead security guard in front of her. Don't worry, KIM is here to save the day! She'll take care of Nina, and I'm sure that she will be able to have the virus out of LA by 4 AM.
I still don't care about Chase and the baby, but the Palmer storyline has gotten very interesting. I heart Sherry for always doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. Her and Kim need to discuss strategies sometime (season 4 maybe). | SirBubNorm

Speaking of no coming back... I really don't see Jack surviving this season. With Palmer on his way down, and the way in which the heroin thing played out, plus next week's preview, I don't see any way that Jack survives politically at CTU. Yeah I suppose, they could pull a repeat of season two, but I hope they realize they've been there done that. And I just don't see the series missing the opportunity to take him out dramatically versus letting him sail off into the sunset.
But the funniest thing about tonight's episoide? My cable system's entire episoide synopsis was "Sheri lies to the president". Well, gee thanks for making it easy to tell what's different than last week. Oh wait, you mean it's likely you'll be reusing that next week. Great! | Alpha Dog

| #9 Posted on 18.2.04 1104.22 Reposted on: 18.2.11 1106.05 | Nina is dead. The only time you will ever see her again is on video surveilance footage... staring at YOU.
It was a fitting end, too. Think back to the Season One finale, when Jack was about to kill Nina and she was all "If you kill me, you won't know who I work for!" and Jack let her go. He let her go one too many times because she had "information" and last night, as she was reaching for the gun, Jack had about enough of it. She played the same hand one too many times.
With the alarms going off and everything, it really drew a parallel to the night Nina killed Teri, especially with it all happening in what was the same room. Or, at least, a very similar room full of blinking lights and machines that do nothing.
That's, what, 4 major character deaths for 4 weeks in a row? We're still in February, so I wonder if someone dies next week.
So, does this mean Jack really does die this season, since they took care of the Nina subplot? I don't see how this show can survive without Jack Bauer. Chase is no Bauer. He's more like Ricky Schroeder or that guy from Saved By The bell, who needs a Dennis Franz to hold his hand. If anything, they'll need to get someone like Judd Nelson or get Michael Keaton to replace Kiefer and carry the show. They already killed off Lou Diamond Philips in Season One, so he's out. But, that person still wouldn't tie in to all of the main plot threads like Bauer does.
There still are plenty of places to go with the character. We still haven't taken care of the overall German connection, nor found out what exactly is going on within our government, so I don't see why they would do it this season. But, hey, if Kiefer doesn't want to do it, he won't. | David Adams

| #11 Posted on 18.2.04 1122.55 Reposted on: 18.2.11 1123.56 | Okay, I'm just throwing this out there, but what if whatever Alvers was doing to the virus... what if it reacts to whatever Palmer was infectd with last season. I mean, he has to go in front of the country to either re-warn them of the threat or something, they release this strain at the press conference and the world sees the President of the US die horribly right in front of them. Could this be the "message?"
I mean, Palmer's re-electability is in the crapper. Why not give him a huge send-off, and you have further reason to keep Jack alive - ie, did he doom the Pres by killing Nina? - for next season. | HomerJFong

| #13 Posted on 18.2.04 1601.55 Reposted on: 18.2.11 1602.04 | There was another death this week: Tony's sex life. Because there's no way he won't be sleeping on the couch for at least a year after this day is over. Maybe not even on the couch, what with all the blood all over him - some his, some not - too.
In a way, it didn't feel like the major episode it could have been considering what went down, but there were a lot of great moments throughout, starting with Chloe's phone conversation with Chase, which pretty much went: "Oh, yeah, Chase - they found out about your baby." "Oh snap! Does Kim know?" "Yeah." "Was she upset?" "What do you think, dumbass?" Oh, Chloe, you so crazy.
And then Chase telling 24 later, and he pretty much blew him off with the whole "Chase, who gives a shit, there's a killer virus and Nina is about to kill everybody again, dumbass" blowoff. I hope that, when Kim finally confronts Chase on this, he just says "Babies havin' babies!" and she has to let him off the hook, because how do you counter that, right?
Michael Bolton reminding Michelle that Tony and Nina used to "go out" while Nina used her magic two way television stare was good fun. And Nina totally made Tony look like a punk in the interrogation until Tony dropped the AIDS card. The real highlight, though, was when they wheeled the tray full of scalpels and ominous sharp medical-y instruments right up to Nina and you knew she was going to kill everybody in the room. 24's reaction to Tony being a jackass and leaving her in a room full of cannon fodder right as the alarm went off was great and reaffirmed the whole idea of, yeah, there are a lot of badasses in the world of 24, but Nina is the worst of the bad and 24 is King Shit. Everybody else is living on borrowed time.
Chappelle is still no George Mason, but he's been a pretty good poor man's George Mason. Over the course of this day, he's pretty clearly figured out the above rule about Jack being the only guy who gets results and tried to help him out with the drug report. I worry, from the previews, that we're going to get a Georgia Rae Mahoney shooting redux (Homicide!) next week, though. I'm not sure I can go through one of those storylines again.
As for the question of whether this means they can off 24 now that Nina is done...I still think Chase is there just to let us think he could die. On the other hand, I don't think Kiefer will want to do another year, but would probably do a movie, so they'd have to keep him alive. Yeah, you could set it in the past, but there would be no suspense about whether he could die then. Still, this season hasn't been quite up to last season for me, so I do have an idea for the best spinoff ever.
It would have to be an alternate universe 24 spinoff, a Suicide Squad/Dirty Dozen thing. It would feature George Mason as the head of an ultra-secret black bag task force that does all the dirty jobs that the government can't be tied to (like...well, like breaking evil drug lords out of prison, yeah), so they have to use supercriminals and terrorists to do it. They'd all naturally have bombs in their brains that would explode if they tried to escape, becuase that's standard supercriminal-as-government-agent policy. They'd take Ramon Salazar, Nina, Jonathan Wallace and Andre Drazen and send them out in the field. And Milo would be the computer guy who keeps them connected to George Mason. If somebody gets killed, they'd get replaced by some other awesome 24 villain. And they'd all hate each other and try to doublecross one another. I would watch the shit out of that. | Big Bad

| #17 Posted on 19.2.04 0957.56 Reposted on: 19.2.11 0958.07 | Yeah, I liked the actual Luther shooting storyline - "Never put an ass-whooping on a man unless you're damn sure he got it coming to him. I'm going to be beating on you for a little while" - though (and my man Alonzo Fortunado, RIP Drac).
It was the Georgia Rae Mahoney follow-up with that punk-ass Falsone's investigation in Season 6 that killed the show for me. And she did get shot at the end of Season 6 by some guy. So I can pretend that's what I was trying to imply instead of admitting I screwed up. Saved!
Since I'm already way off topic now (where's that Homicide Season 3 DVD thread when I need it?), the guy who played Luther should be the Joker someday. He just should. And also, Junior Bunk was hardcore. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
