Wow...I don't know what to say about this. I never thought I'd see the day that Mickey Mouse and Kermit the Frog would be on the same team, but there you go. What do you all make of this, because I'm stunned!

Mark my words, we will one day be begging for the glory days of Brian Henson once we see how badly Disney ruins the legacy of the Muppets.

If this mean we can get the whole Muppet Show series on DVD then I will be happy.

Hopefully they'll let Animal run amuck and destroy any tourist in his path. And, way off topic and in a DEAN mode for Muppet Babies: Why the hell didn't Barbara Billigsley do porn in the late 40's/early 50's?

Disney has been working "with" the Muppets for some time now, so not a whole lot has or will change. If you ever find yourself in the Orlando area you can check that out for yourself at Disney MGM Studios with the Muppet Vision 3-D movie. You'd see that the Muppets are handled with all the care they should be and Disney has not ruined a thing. If anything, the Muppets have hurt themselves the last decade or so. I'm looking at you Muppet Treasure Island and Muppets in Space.

No shock here. Disney had produced the last 2 or so Muppet movies...

Probably did it for the shareholders. "See! We are doing something to replace Pixar!"

It's a shame that Pixar doesn't own the rights to their movies that Disney distrubited. Disney owns the rights to Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, A Bugs Life, and all the characters, tv shows, merchandise, and whatnot. They also own the next movie too. I Can't remember the name, but it was trailered on the Finding nemo DVD.

To steal someone else's joke, if any of you have any metal tools that need sharpening, be sure to drop by Jim Henson's grave, where he'll be SPINNING LIKE A LATHE!

Maybe this is a sign that Winnie The Pooh (And Tigger Too) will be freed from the bonds of slavery to Michael Eisner.

The Incredibles -- AND the next film, Cars, as well. I agree with you -- Disney's already announced they're going to do a Pixar-less Toy Story III, which, given Disney's recent track record of animated sequels, does not fill me with mirthful entusiasm.

I dunno, Jim was in discussions with Disney about this before he died, apparently.

Somewhat OT, but I would give one of my limbs (provider's choice) for a copy of the Muppet Show PILOTS, "The Muppets Valentine Show" and "The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence."

You can get pretty close, with all these DVD options from Time-Life.

I'm partial to the 15-volume set myself...if only I can pry the wallet open for $150.

Maybe I'm strange but I liked Muppet Treasure Island.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Please don't do it, Disney!!!!
Toy Story 1 & 2 are near perfect animated films.
Don't ruin it. Trying to do it without Pixar will be sooo cheesy and so obviously different from the other two.
I thought I'd seen everything when they started inserting sequels between films "The Lion King 1 1/2 ???"
Can't they ever just leave things alone??

PS. MuppetVision 3-D is one of the best things about the Disney-MGM theme park. I'm not worried about the Muppets.

I liked it better when it was called "Rosenkrantz & Guildenstern are Dead" (I may be off on the spelling.)

Lion King 1 was a version of Hamlet.
Lion King 1.5 was R&G Are Dead, the retelling of Hamlet.

I thought that the Muppets were already owned by Disney. Didn't Henson sell the franchise to them before he passed on?

Count me in as another who liked MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND. I didn't care too much for MUPPETS IN SPACE, though.

I would love to see a Muppet Show DVD set released, but I'd also like to see the underrated but enjoyable Muppets Tonight series also released, as well.

No, but he was in negotiations. The Muppets were eventually sold to a German TV company in 1998 or so, and then bought back by Brian Henson and his sister five years later.

They sold the muppets for $680 MILLION, and bought them back for like $69 Mil....

That's a nice little profit there...

I think it's interesting how many people here liked Muppet Treasure Island, but not Muppets in Space. I'm the complete opposite.
