The Mozilla Firefox .8 (formerly Firebird) web browser was released today. The FAQ about the name change includes:
Won't this confuse people?
Yes, but if the WWF can pull it off, so can we. Besides, in six months you'll forget there ever was any other name.
It's a great browser whatever they wish to call it, and I recommend it to any Windows/Mac/Linux user looking for a fast browser with lots of features.

I've always like Firebird/Firefox as a slimmed down, sleaker version of Mozilla. Though I have been reluctant to use it full-time in it's current beta state. In a couple of years it should be top-notch and a contender to any browser out there. | cranlsn

| #7 Posted on 14.2.04 1103.29 Reposted on: 14.2.11 1104.01 | OK...one question. I'm trying this out after years of the IE monkey on my back. It's a pretty slick little browser, and I definitely like the built in pop up blocking.
However, for sites like Uproar or other Java based games, it won't open them it keeps wanting to download them. I'd appreciate a little advice in the regards....be nice I'm new to the "alterna-browsers".
Other than that, I've been getting faster page loads, more control of it's appearance...it's a nice alternative. | Guru Zim

| #8 Posted on 14.2.04 1450.34 Reposted on: 14.2.11 1451.05 | Some sites are poorly designed and only really work on IE. Don't let that stop you though - if you must use IE for those sites, send them feedback complaining about the inconvenience.
Remember, IE only sites are a flaw, not a feature. Don't let anyone BS and tell you otherwise.
//edit: Link up the sites you are having a problem with, I'll check into this and try to make it work on my system here.

If I had been paying attention, Uproar has a "Start" link in their games as wall as a link to download the "play at home" versions [/humiliation]
