In a word, yes.

I feel like they've developed the same way the other survivors of early 90's rock. I like the sound they've carved out.

Yeah, eventhough Shangri La Dee Da had too many ballads for my tastes, it showed how much they've changed their sound. Maybe more out of necessity than from actually wanting to. STP has shown signs of willing to try new things and develop into a better musical act, eventhough they dish out 10 year old songs like 'Plush' and 'Sex Type Thing', they sound fresh.

They do have a good sound...w/ or w/out Wieland's gimmicks.

Shangri La Dee Da is good but it still doesn't touch there first two albums and is way better than 4 and Tiny Music.

I especially like that "My Sacrifice" song of theirs that the WWF used in those video packages.

I laughed, but it would have been funnier if this was a Pearl Jam thread.

Not funnier to me though, cause I hate when people compare Pearl Jam to TWSRN.

I think they went down, musiclly, after "Core". Which is just a fantastic album. Durring Scotts drug years, they just didnt meld very well, but it seems as though they have put most of that behind them.

Funny story;

I saw them live, in October. Durring the show (Which was VERY good), someone threw a beer bottle on stage. Weiland stopped the show, and knelt down to talk to the crowd. He said, "Those of you here who know me, know how amazingly stupid it is to throw a beer bottle on stage. If anyone wants to come backstage, find the guy who threw it, you know who he is if you were close to him, and pull out his hair. Come to the security guards by the stage with his hair, and they'll let you back."

I dont think anyone actually did, but I thought it sent a pretty clear messege where he stands on his past.

As for the show, STP was perforing with Staind, Lincoln Park, and one other heavier band, who I always forget the name of. Anyways, it was like night and day, when you compare the performences. STP was so alive on stage, so animated, and they gave the audience exactly what they wanted. They were true rockers up there, and you knew it.

The other acts were O.K, just nothing special, nothing beyond what thier overplayed videos on MTV show durring TRL.

But yes, I do like STP.

I missed the Family Values tour...mainly because I didn't want to put up w/ the rest if the shitty lineup. A lot of friends, who had no idea who STP was, said that their portion of the show was the best...so, it must have been good.

I'll check out their OWN tour...none of this mega band fest.

I saw them with Chili Peppers back in 2000 when they were getting back on tour. They blew the Chili Peppers out of the building! STP is one of the best live bands to see. I also think that Tiny Music is a great album and doesn't get its due. The album has the best non-radio song in their catalog, "Seven Caged Tigers".

Purple is one of the best albums ever.
