It means that some of our faves won't be back due to cap issues. I'm just curious as to who people in different parts of the country fear losing on their teams' current rosters.
For me (and the Titans), I fear losing Robaire Smith & either Drew Bennett or Justin McCareins ...

Bobby Taylor: One of the best corners in the league and still only about 30 or so. Can't understand why we wouldn't be able to come up with the money if he's willing to stay.
Deuce Staley: No, really. Stop looking at me like that. Seriously underrated guy that never complained all season about being used so little. Looked able to step up in Westbrooks absence if only we had, you know, given him the ball.
Troy Vincent: Great CB but getting on a bit. If we can keep Taylor then Brown would be a reasonable replacement for him.
Theres a few restricted's too but I can't remember who off the top of my head.
I really dont think we can afford to lose all 3 but maybe after 3 years of getting so close we'll need a mini overhaul to keep morale up.
I just wish free agency would start tomorrow. No football sucks, and NFL Europe aint gonna cut it as a substitute :( | Ffej

The only reason to keep The Bus at this point is as trade bait to Houston for the rights to Drew Henson. Pittsburgh (finally) wants to get a Quarterback for the future and they know now at this point they have no shot at Roethlisberger (who Cowher is in love with), so the Henson deal could very much be in the works.
I am drooling over the upcoming draft. Pittsburgh really has a shot at getting a shut down corner (DeAngelo Hall or Derrick Straight?) in round one and a Greg Jones or Chris Perry in Round 2 to sure up the backfield. If I am the Steelers though and Sean Taylor is sitting there you have to take him. He is game breaking safety, but I doubt he will drop out of the top 10.
Mmmmm...draft.
EDIT: Happy Birthday DMr! We share our birthday with the lovely, talented, ageless Morgan Fairchild as well.

P Chris Hanson and LS Joe Zelenka are free agents too (Hanson is RFA), so they'd be next on the list of one's I'd want to re-sign.

According to ESPN Houston would happily offload him for a 2nd round draft pick so you wouldn't have to hang onto him. I'm guessing the salary cap problems of hanging onto and then trading him could be pretty nasty.

I'm not a "this team is closest to where I live, so I must like them" kinda guy.
Plus, all of the sports teams I like are "expansion" teams (i.e. teams that came about in the 90's), so I think the reason I picked them to like is so I could kinda be "with that team from the beginning", ya know? | Excalibur05

A few bucks saved on his contract might land us a pretty sweet free agent, but I don't trust McCombs to write out that check. | dMr

Well if you're gonna be like that.....
Ted Washington, Chris Akins, Bobby Hamilton, Ted Washington, Kevin Faulk, Antwan (spelling?) Harris, Je'rod Cherry, and did I mention Ted Washington are all unrestricted as well as a fair few back ups.
Losing Washington would put a massive dent in the D if they plan on using the 3-4 again next year, and while Faulk and Cloud might not be the Barry Sanders for the 21st century they'll need to be replaced if they move on to pastures new.

The Cardinals, the Vikings, and the Panthers are all pretty well under the cap, so I expect them to be able to keep the players they want. Of course, the Bidwells will keep the worst players they have, but that's just how they play football out in Arizona!
I see hope for the Vikings and the Panthers to reload and give it a good go this year.
The Pats are 400K over the cap. It's not that bad, but somebody is going to have to go.
I think the real surprise is that the Ravens are 24 million under. Too bad they don't have a first round pick to waste some of that on.

I had no idea the Eagles were as much as 23m under the cap. If we cant get a decent DE and a wideout with that then we never will. Drafting a run stuffer at MLB might not be too shabby a plan either.
I can't believe St Louis is as much as 17m under with Bulger, Warner, Holt, Bruce, Pace, Williams etc. all probably on slightly more than minimum wage.
And who. In the blue hell. Are Cleveland spending all that cash on? Scary.
Oh and Tennessee. I'd say they're screwed.
EDIT: oops, I guess some folks might want a link

Well, what they really need are a series of swift boots to the ass. And maybe a few lashes. Not sure that Gallery would be such a good first-round pick for them, but they've had good luck recently with first round linemen. | BOSsportsfan34

I think there's a bigger chance of Damien Woody being gone than Washington. As for the running backs, the Pats have picks 21 and 32 in the first round (plus 2 more picks in the 2nd round) so I think they'll look to address than need there. | Doc_whiskey
