I agree 100%. McNabb wasn't the problem. Plus what was with the Philly defense's poor excuse for tackling on the Carolina TD run?

Vinatieri is not the best kicker ever. Statistically, he's not even the best kicker of this season. According to the stats page on NFL.com, he was the 9th best kicker in the league. He was 25 of 34 when kicking field goals. His longest was 48 yards (good but not exceptional), and he scored 112 points (just barely making the top 10 in scoring among kickers). Talk to me when Vanderjagt misses a kick period.
Brady is just one man. His receivers, while not spectacular, are more than adequate for the type of offense the Pats run. Brady was 6th in the league in passing yards, 10th in the league in passing touchdowns, and 10th in the league in passer rating. He didn't lead the league in even one major category. I'm happy for you that you're excited about your team making the Super Bowl, but don't come around with bullshit takes where you make Brady out to be the second coming of Montana.
Edit: And by saying that Brady shows up when the Pats "have to win" is just inane. When do they not have to win? Apparently they didn't have to win at Buffalo or at Washington this year. By the definition of sport, every game is a "must win". You don't play to lose. All I'm saying is don't blow your horn too soon. The Panthers have a legit defense the likes of which hasn't been seen by the Pats in this post-season.

The same place St. Louis was last year and the same place the Jets and Giants are this year.
You can say it's the Pats defense and/or its coaching but this part is true; NE has had guys in and out of the lineup all year due to injuries (Colvin and Patten gone for the year; Washington, Johnson, Brown, Seymour, McGinest, Vrabel, etc... missing various amounts of games) but the one constant has been Brady.

Oh, you wouldn't believe how many so-called fans are starting to do this already.
What doesn't help is Andy Reid's stubborn insistence on "I need to put them in better situations" garbage. Granted, as pointed out by the announce team, the Panthers have already handled two top flight receiving groups (Dallas and St. Louis), but Thrash, Pinkston, and Chad Lewis aren't going to cut it as championship calibur No. 1 receivers. I wasn't too high on the possibility of Terrell Owens coming here, but antics and all, this team needs someone like that, who's not going to let himself get pushed around by defensive backs for four quarters, and who will yell at his fellow receivers if they do. And this morning, I read an article where Reid says "They didn't run wrong routes" WTF?! Then what was Pinkston doing on that slant route where he cut off and then ran an out, that led to one of Manning's INTs?
There's no excuse this time around, either. Duce Staley and Bobby Taylor aren't going to be resigned, and Troy Vincent has only a slightly better chance of being brought back. They have the money, and other than linebacker, they don't really need to upgrade anywhere else (that they can't do via the draft). I love the Eagles, but if they don't do something to deal with their most glaring weaknes -- at wide receiver -- they're going to strongly make me reconsider investing time in them next year, because it's going to be the same result.
Edit: Despite all that, congrats to the Panthers, and to Ricky Manning, jr. in particular. He talked trash about the Eagles' wideouts earlier in the week, and it ain't bragging if you can do it.

As a NY Football Giants fan, watching this game is slightly painful, as it will feature the 2 defensive coordinators who have led the Giants to the Super Bowl. Well, I was just pointing out how insane it is to talk about how great a QB is, and how he wins EVERY GAME THAT THE PATS "MUST" WIN, when they didnt go to the playoffs last season. Thrash easily could have caught the ball by taking one step to the right, but he looked over saw Mike Minter a few steps away. Rather than laying himself out and catching the ball he made a feeble attempt to reach out and grab it and the ball fluttered into the turf. I believe on the replay Chris Collinsworth called it "disgraceful." I couldn't agree more.
The Panthers defensive backs dominated that game and by the time the second half rolled around the Iggles wideouts were terrified of them. New England has their hands full in two weeks, should be a great game. |
