Holy Shit, that was the best weekend of football I have ever had the pleasure of watching. Our week one leader, Ffej, didn't play but he did stay in hunt.

Added stip: for next week since there's only two games, I'm going to double the pts from 7 to 14 for picking a winner and from 3 to 7 for the closest pick.

Carolina - 29
St Louis - 23

Closest pick goes to Broncolance who scored it 27-24.

New England - 17
Tennessee - 14

Whatever picked it exact 17-14.

Indi - 38
K.C. - 31

This went about how most of it thought it would, but Haz was closest with 37-31.

Philly - 20
G.B. - 17

I GOT THIS ONE BAYBEE, I picked 20-17.

Now for the leaderboard

EDIT: I've added insight to each prediction and I'm revising my Car/Phi prediction.

Colts 17
Patriots 24

To put it bluntly, NE's D is far above KC's and Denver's.

Panthers 24
Eagles 20

I might get flamed for this, but McNabb is definitely prone to look like shit when he's under pressure. He'll either hold the ball for too long, refuse to run with it even though the lanes are there, or just throw it into coverage. And while their pressure wasn't necessarily consistent against St. Louis, Carolina's D-line will certainly have the opportunity to make McNabb look ordinary.

2003 Panthers=2001 Patriots?

Trailing by 7 with just two weeks left, time to toss up my Hail Marys:

AFC:
Indy 20
New England 27
If any defense can stop the red hot Colts right now, it's the Pats'.

NFC:
Carolina 17
Philly 23
If Stephen Davis were 100% healthy, I think I'd have to go with Carolina, but he isn't, so I won't. This game won't be as close as the final score will make it appear.

Me in lead, me in lead.

Patriots vs. Colts: Looks at long range weather forecast. Patriots 16 Colts 6.

Eagles vs. Panthers: Panthers can run the ball, and they have a better D-Line. Panthers 20 Eagles 10.

I can no longer go with my original picks (well, I could, but I'm not delusional enough right now to think that Green Bay can make it to the Super Bowl). So...

New England 27, Indinapolis 24

Philadelphia 20, Carolina 17

The only reason I'm picking Philadelphia is that it's so tough to win twice on the road. Granted, it's also rare to have both #1 seeds go to the Super Bowl, but I have to pick someone. Besides, if it's New England-Carolina, I can still win some money in my office pool.

Hey SantaSangre - am I really in 1st? I only got two games right this weekend.

Sec 19- yep you got all 4 right the first week and 2 right yesterday. By the scoring system (which is a pretty tight system if I do say so myself) 6*7 = 42. Not a lot of people picked the right teams, I've only picked 3 right through the whole play-offs so far. Not as easy as it looks I guess.

I'm really looking forward to the NE/Indy game. It's early so the weather is gonna be bearable. That punter from Indy better do some practicing this week cause he is definatly punting this Sunday. He did have a beautiful hold on that one fg kick yesterday, though.

I want Stephen Davis back for the Philly game. Without him the Panthers will have to rely on Delhome and he's finally come up against a secondary that will challege him and a D-line that will be knocking his ass down all day. With Davis, the Panthers have a fighting chance and will make it a better, closer game. All that said, what ever happened to the Eagles run Defense, they used to be damn good.

Thanks for the update.

I agree with the Davis comment. Healthy players make for better football watching. Along those lines, I believe that the Eagles have placed 4 D-linemen on Injured Rserve this year (which is why they can't stop anyone). They may all have been starters, but I won't swear to that one.

FOster had about 100 yards, and has played in the place of Davis in the past (beating Indy BTW). He will do okay.

Hey, I never even did picks for the divisional games (Except taking the Eagles by 4). Can I make them now?

Anyways

Carolina 23
Iggles 14

I've fancied us the last 2 years and we've blown it. So partly born of superstition, and partly because of injuries I'll go with the Panthers

Patriots 24
Colts 21

Barring a sudden heat wave in New England I can't see the Colts offense coping with the cold. And if Peyton et al ain't firin the D's not good enough to dig them out.

Should be interesting to see if Peyton can out think Belichick but I doubt it.

While that's certainly true, and Foster will someday soon be a very good back, he's still a rookie and he's more of a slasher, while Davis just runs over people. I think the speedy Eagles' D can keep Foster in check, but they're too small for the most part, especially in the linebacking corps, to stop a guy like Davis. Factor in the fumble numbers (both have fumbled 3 times, both lost all 3 fumbles, but Davis needed 3 times the carries to do it) and I can see Foster really hurting his own team this week. We'll see.

I haven't jumped into any of these playoff prediction threads until now. I'll make my own damn predictions to join the fun:

AFC - Indianapolis 31
New England 30

New England will play hard, but Manning once again shuts up his critics by overcoming the Patriots in a scoring race.

NFC - Philadelphia 24
Carolina 17

Mad props to the Panthers for kicking the overrated Rams out of the playoffs on the road. That said, Philadelphia finally gets back to the Super Bowl this year by doing just what it did last Sunday - making clutch plays when they matter.

Well, quite a week for the underdogs last week.

Both of these games have an interesting weather possibility with them.

AFC

Wow, what are you on Peyton? Can I get me some of that. However, the team you play this week actually has a D that shows up and doesn't give up.

I really thought the Titans would win last week, not only because I hate the Pats, but I thought McNair would be better. I think that way again. The Colts are rolling so well right now, I can't pick against them.

Colts 27
Pats 24

NFC

Wow, I said in my Rams-Panthers pick that there was no reason to think the Panthers could win that game and that was what worried me.

I think McNabb and the Eagles, however, are on a mission this year. They have the chance to make the big one again and know that getting this far three years in a row is not enough.

Panthers will be OK without Davis as Foster should be good enough for the run game. Does it matter though? Green had 200 yards last week and the Pack still lost.
