| #1 Posted on 8.1.04 1026.28 Reposted on: 8.1.11 1027.03 | I have been having problems with my comp lately. It seems after about 15-20 minutes after startup, the mouse cursor freezes on the screen. I can tell that the mouse still moves because if I move it around I can see it still highlight things and when I click the buttons, they still work, but the cursor on screen does not move. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Just FYI-I recently installed an ethernet card, got cable modem service, upgraded to IE 6.1, and am using a router all of which work in case that stuff may have somthing to do with it. Also for anyone helping I am using Win98 on a pentium 2 (yeah I know I need to upgrade)

Uninstall your mouse driver and restart your computer; when it starts up again it'll find the mouse again.
Run an anti-virus program (I like AVG, myself) and see if any viruses are on your system. Also, I'd remove any adware/spyware/toolbars/P2P programs you may have, as well. They're not worth the trouble they eventually cause.
Taking an compressed air canister to your ps/2 ports may help, too.
Could be a mechanical problem with your mouse, too. A decent wheel mouse can go for about $15 to $20 in stores.
Hope that helps. If not, please email me and let me know more; I'm certain I could assist you further.
