I have faith that Buck 65 will eventually get the props he deserves, as will Six Too.
Tough call on Six Too, but Buck 65 deserves everything he'll end up getting.
Seeing as you're in the 'Fax, make sure you're checking him out every chance you get...

| #23 Posted on 8.3.02 0857.37 Reposted on: 8.3.09 0859.01 | nice call Steph.. Howard and the White Boy's... good times good times. some bands i want to throw out there: juliana theory - with the recent success of jimmy eat world and saves the day, i think this could be the next "emo" band to break out.
and you will know us by the trail of dead - amazing major label debut with "source tags and codes". take fugazi and throw in a little sonic youth and a heap of indie attitude, great band.
the white stripes - already getting bigger, but wonderful indie rawk. if you are sick of all the Strokes hype... check this duo out.
thursday - amazing, energetic hardcore in the tradition of fugazi. AMAZING live show...
phantom planet - the band with jason schwartzman (sp?) of "Rushmore" on drums. kinda cheezy, poppy rock but enjoyable nonetheless.
afi - another kick-ass live band. punk with goth-tinged lyrics without out all the horrible over-dramatizing goth bands tend to do. lots of lyrics about death and pain. check 'em out now before they blow up when they make the jump to a major label.
tiger army - psychobilly. punk with a backwoods tinge. the bass player plays an upright bass. that alone rocks.
ok... just my 2 bits. | spf

| #24 Posted on 8.3.02 1117.28 Reposted on: 8.3.09 1118.35 | My copy of "Source Tags and Codes" just arrived last night, and I am suitably impressed. I am not sure it's worthy of the mammoth praise heaped on it by Pitchfork Reviews, but it's an amazing listen. I was seriously digging "Heart in the Hand of the Matter"
Oh and if you like psychobilly type music, I have three words for you: Split Lip Rayfield. Fear the power of the Tank Bass!

They are decent reviewers, but yeah... no way "Codes" was a 10.0, I like it.. but its no "OK Computer" or anything. I'll have to check out Split Lip Rayfield, I just recently got into psychobilly after seeing Tiger Army and Necromantix on the Punks vs. Psychos tour. | ironcladlou

| #29 Posted on 1.4.02 1059.16 Reposted on: 1.4.09 1101.30 | Some bands I like that never caught on(and unfortunately are no more)
Brutal Juice- Mutilation Makes Identification Difficult is a great album. Their live shows were 7 kinds of cool. Think apolitical System of a Down. I still find myself singing "Kentucky Fuck Daddy", "Galaxy", "Kathy Rigby", and "Whorehouse of Screams"
Quicksand- Had a moderate hit in the early 90's with "Dine Alone", but their follow-up album Manic Compression should be standard issue. They kind of sound like Helmet(NY Hardcore), but whereas Helmet is real hit-or-miss, Quicksand always hits.
Chemlab- Industrial band that should have hit big. Only band I've seen open for GWAR and not get booed off the stage. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
