I said a fear months back that the Browns were heartless and gutless and all that for allowing Jamal Lewis 295 yards after calling them out...
...but yesterday was probably even sorrier. Having nothing to play for other than pride and spoiler for one of their archrivals, the Browns choked off another one yesterday. Hey, they held Jamal to only 205.
Actually, what's even more pathetic is:
- The Chad Williams INT return: he freaking fell down, got up, and STILL ran it 52 yards to the house.
- The two fourth down plays in the 4th quarter: It was already garbage time, and probably better not to get somebody killed on a punt return. But Musa Smith galloping into the end zone unmolested for an 11-yard score on 4th and 6 is just unconscienable.
The Browns are a sorry team. If I was management, I would strongly consider dumping Butch Davis if they played like this next week.

I know you probably haven't watched the Browns the last two weeks but in the games against the Rams and Broncos, they played well, even though both were losses. Close games that they at least had a shot of winning, not just laying down and giving up. Now as for yesterday, the first half was actually decent. They limited Jamal Lewis to ~40 yards or so and were only down 7-0. I have no earthly idea what happened to them in the second half, but yes, that was pathetic.
However, I would not can a coach because the team has one bad half. Perhaps it could be that the players aren't revolting or have "given up", let's face it: they just aren't that good. What I would whole-heartedly agree wtih however is that the Browns need a good GM, because Davis has too much power in that area and is not doing that good a job with it.
So could you please refrain your high-and-mighty "heart" argument unless you are watching a team over the whole season, not just against one team?

If anybody needs canned, maybe its the front office. Saying a team is gutless and dosen't have heart is a stretch.
Being a Browns fan for well over 40 years, it saddens me to see the new incarnation. I still remeber watching Jim Brown, Bill Nelson, Leroy Kelly, Paul Warfield, and even Brian Sipe play their butts off. They often weren't a great team but man they played their hearts out. I still remeber Gary Danielson the year they drafted Bernie Kosar. He played with his throwing arm held on by about one muscle. They may not have always won, but man they were fun to watch. Damn Art Modell.

I agree that it's the Browns front office that needs a shake-up, not necessarily Butch Davis. Look at their high draft picks: Couch, Gerald Warren and Courtney Brown didn't exactly turn out to be world-beaters

No knock on Butch Davis, but at the time, I thought they never should've let go of Chris Palmer, despite the 5-27 record. He struck me as a more patient coach who could build for the future more and have his players rally around him, but that might just be me.
