| #1 Posted on 18.12.03 1244.18 Reposted on: 18.12.10 1245.43 | Piecing together tidbits from this (tvshowsondvd.com) interview and this (flakmag.com) interview with Seth MacFarlane, we have a pretty good picture of what his new show is going to be about.
It's an animated series entitled "American Dad" (think "Family Guy" meets "All in the Family"). It's more politically and socially satirical than "Family Guy," which was more "pop-culturally" satirical. It follows the adventures of Stan, an ultra-hardcore conservative fellow who works for the CIA, his equally ultra-hardcore liberal daughter, his wife, his other child, their Francophile goldfish, and their "pet" alien Roger (Stan rescued Roger from Area 51, and took the alien into his home - since Roger can't leave the house, he sits on the couch, smoking, drinking wine and watching daytime TV).
I'll give Seth the benefit of the doubt, but by the time this show makes it to air, I would think all the USA vs France stuff would be so outdated, that even La Resistance won't be around (that is, of course, if that is his intention). It would probably be hysterical to see a guy arguing with his goldfish though.
On the "Family Guy" front, according to the timing of these interviews, Seth should have heard the "official" word on the show's fate. I haven't seen anything official though. Promote this thread! | | Alessandro

JUST FRIGGIN' BRING BACK FAMILY GUY!!!!!!!!
Yeesh, must I think of everything?
EDIT: Although the the idea of a beer-drinking alien intrigues me; ALF for the 21st century?

Nothing official....FOX said they'd consider it because Family Guy is one of the highest selling DVD's. | HMD

| #6 Posted on 19.12.03 1441.21 Reposted on: 19.12.10 1443.25 | While I think Family Guy is a little overrated, with too heavy a reliance on "like that time I...*flashback*" jokes and mean-spirited rhetoric, I think that would work better than this new stuff.
A talking pet...an alien? Sounds like it could be funny as a skit, but a series? And will that jive with political satire? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
I'm personally still getting over the distressing fact that this MacFarlane guy has nothing to do with Spawn.
