Grimis, how the hell can we LOSE the War on Terror? It has no stated goals or objectives. There is no point at which we can say, "We've killed all the terrorists, we win!" The only way I can think that we lose the War on Terror, is if the president comes out and says, "We give up. We lose. No more War on Terror."

Strangely, I don't see that happening. I have a feeling that 'The War On Terror' will last a lot longer than 'No Child Left Behind' does. It may start to lose a lot of its funding, the Patriot Act might finally go away, and we may change our tactics from playing a game of RISK to some kind of 'Food for Terrorists' program, but the War on Terror isn't going away.

Exactly -- and that's because the "war on terror" didn't begin on September 12th, 2001. It's been an ongoing effort; it'll continue to be an ongoing effort. The _tactics_ may change; the desire to protect America and Americans will not.

Just curious. The Israelis have been fighting an agressive "War on Terror" for a long time. Are they more or less safe today than five years ago? I really don't know.

Are we any safer know than two years ago? Again I really don't know. Saddam is gone and Osama is in hiding, yet I don't feel the world is a safer place. I really don't know how you wage a successful war on terror. We are fighting an ideology of extremism and hatred. It appears that one of the Israelis accomplishments has been the development of more younger, more extreme, and more vitriolic terrorists. To me that is the danger here. We run a real risk of creating more extreme anti-US terrorists. I wish I had a good answer and I don't

Really, how do we succeed in this endeavor? Maybe the question is "Can We Succeed?" I hope we can and I know we can't give up.
