Ring of Honor to debut in Chicagoland this April

Ring Of Honor In Chicago Ridge, IL on April 24th

PHILADELPHIA- Ring Of Honor is proud to announce that it will debut in the Chicago area on April 24th when it runs the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago Ridge, IL. The building is on 9807 South Sayre Avenue and has a zip code of 60415.

Tickets are on sale now at RFVideo.com or by calling 215-891-9404. The only place to get front, second and third row tickets is RF Video. Tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster shortly.

Ring Of Honor will be bringing only the top talent to Chicago on April 24th. The talent roster will be announced soon and already includes the Second City Saints of CM Punk, Colt Cabana and Ace Steel.

ROH is very excited at taking the Midwest by storm with the highest-flying, hardest-hitting, most athletic action going today.

If you're a Chicagoan, I'd buy tickets now. If you've never seen RoH, it will be well worth your time to go see this show. It's exciting to see a company expanding at such a fast rate.

How is this expanding? They're still running the same amount of shows, just in different places.

I know ECW used to make the same dealio about "Hey, we're a NY-Philly promotion that's going to be [someplace that is neither NY or Philly!], look how big we are!" but being in a town one night in a blue moon doesn't really establish any presence in there. They're still an indy promotion that runs about no more than four shows a month.

ROH's cool and fine and people should go and whatever (though Daniels was just on here about a month ago and Punk and Cabano are still around and yet not many do), but expands? Eh.

(I hate handshakes in wrestling - unless they include clotheslines - so I fear I'll suffer a nervous breakdown if I go. Plus, it'd be sooooo hypocritical never to have made it out to OMLL but go to this.)

I'll respond more later, but it's expanding because it's pretty much the only Indy company in America that is MAKING MONEY and moving with it. They are, generally, a northeast promotion but they're trying to expand the fanbase. They have no television at all to get the product out, so it's a big deal to be running your show in a bunch of places. Nobody is saying it's not an Indy anymore, but usually once ROH tries a new place and it goes well they come back--see Ohio.

It is good for them if they can get into the Chicago market. We were always extremely good to ECW, to the point where I am fairly sure their 2 largest crowds ever are both Chicago-area events (at the lovely Villa Park Odeum) and I think ROH if they can get the word out will get a lot of that old-school ECW fanbase.

I went into Suncoast to price the Flair DVD (they were sold out, wow!) and was shocked to see RoH DVDs on the shelves. Good for them, if they ever make it south of the Mason/Dixon line I'll be there.
