Has Jason White lost the Heisman? All of a sudden Darren Sproles from K-State (leading rusher nationally) is at 7-5 in USA Today. I doubt he'll win but who do you all think gets the nod know. Manning? Personally what White accomplished should win him the prize.

It all depends on when the ballots were sent in. I would guess most of the votes were sent in before Saturday's games...hence, White will still probably win.

According to College Gameday guys on Sunday morning's sportscenter, only ~10% of the ballots had been sent in prior to last saturday.

Last night a couple of the voters we on the local sports radio station and one of them had his ballot (1) Manning, (2) Sean Taylor of Miami (!), and (3) Sproles. The other guy went (1) Fitzgerald, (2) Manning, (3) Leinhart.

I suspect Manning is going to win.

Personally, if I had a ballot, I would vote for Sproles. He's got 1948 yards rushing (over 6 yards/carry), 282 more receiving, plenty enough for Heisman consideration. But I would vote for him more because he's the one guy I've seen that's actually shown up for the big game. Jason White was awful against KSU. Fitzgerald disappeared against Miami. Manning has been quite average against any team that could be considered good. Sproles was amazing against the previously thought to be unbeatable Oklahoma.

If I had a ballot, I would go 1)Sproles, 2) Fitzgerald, 3) Leinart

I think Fitzgerald is going to actually win.

As a UM fan, I can see why Taylor would get Heisman consideration, but it takes an A++++++ year for a defensive player (i.e. Charles Woodson in 1997, and remember he also played receiver and returned kicks) to be even thought of for the Heisman. And Taylor's had a great year and most likely won't be back at UM next year but even in Florida there has been NO Heisman talk about him at all.

Thorpe Award, possibly. But not the Heisman.

155, 201, 140, 273, and 235 yards the last 5 games for Sproles. If you have a what have you done for me lately attitude like they do for the polls then he's gotta be considered.

Manning's probably still my first choice though, he carried a team that has no business being a contender in the SEC. Sure he didn't have any big stats in the big games. But not many QBs have big stats when they don't have any good receivers or running backs. He's not as clear cut a winner as his brother should've been. But I'd vote for him barely over Sproles and Roethlisberger.

One reason I would like Sproles to win it? He would carry on the tradition of Heisman winners who are great college players who don't accomplish much in the pros. With his size, I wonder if he would even get a sniff after his senior year.

At the very very least, he could find a niche on special teams or as a 3rd Down back, although really he's a stronger version of Kevin Faulk, so as a HB he'd probably be good for 15-20 touches a game depending on his recieving abiltty in the NFL.

Do I think he's a superstar or even an All-Pro? No. But I do think he'll be able to make a contribution.
