The stuff I reas is generally pretty mainstream, mostly because I think the best alternative to the mainstream American media is the European Media (some of which I also read). The Indy-press or other ideological publications tend to annoy me to no end. If there's going to be editorializing in my news, I want it subtle enough that I don't notice if I'm not looking for it 
My list: Most of these are local, NY based stuff. And this is just the stuff I'll read (or at least skim) on a daily/weekly basis, not if I'm hunting around for stories on various stuff.

I still prefer the hard copy - which over here means the San Jose Mercury-News and the San Francisco Examiner.

I check Google and AOL if I want video clips, because I don't do TV news, short of apocalyptic events. If I'm over at Mama's, I read her copy of the Chronicle. That's about all I have time for these days.

Reposted on: 6.12.10 2125.57 | Well, in the morning, I usually check Yahoo's news and CNN.com The only newspaper I read a regular hard copy of is the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - unless the local alt-weeklies count - although I tend to check out the Washington Post and the Gaurdian online.
There's a few blogs I read regularly, too. I like Tom Tomorrow, although he's on hiatus right now. Atrios, Demagogue, TBogg and Kos are are regular reads for me. Bartcop has hit the point where even I think he's lost his everloving mind, but I still make sure to check his Entertainment News once a day. | Grimis
