I think Cena probably should have won the US title too, and i'm sure that's where they're headed. If him and Benoit win the US and World Titles at Royal Rumble, I wouldn't mind seeing a face vs face, US vs. World Title feud for the ppv inbetween Rumble and Wrestlemania.

Lesnar coud have a feud with A-Train for the bet also, and squash him.

I guess Kurt would be back too, I guess the winner of Cena/Benoit could face him at WM.

When will Edge be back? Didn't he go out shortly before WM, and was supposed to be out a year?

From what he has said in his column on wwe.com, it sounds like things are progressing well and he *should* be back by WM. Whether or not he'll be back before then to get inserted into any storylines, I'm not sure.

This was definitely the best SmackDown since back before SmackDown started to suck. Benjamin going through the list of knee-based offense on Chavo, the FBI finally doing an all-out bet-taking gimmick (they need to get somebody in debt for a storyline so the person has to start intentionally throwing matches on the FBI's behalf), Chavo's old music - all good stuff.

And then the real quality with the Cena/Benoit/Lesnar business throughout the show. The opening Lesnar interview wasn't nearly as bad as the spoilers made it out to be. It didn't go a full ten minutes, and it set the table for Brock's weakness being against submission moves to make Benoit the guy to beat him. He didn't lapse into goofy Brock that much, either, though I think he was dying to say "heebie-jeebies" or something when talking about not being afraid of Cena or Benoit.

I like Cena's selling when facing guys who are supposed to be able to beat the crap out of him, which plays nicely into his current quasi-face role. The match had a nice in-story, too, with Benoit being saved by the ropes because he knew where he was in the ring, showing his veteran status to the upstart Cena. I'd like to see them run with Cena having trouble getting the win over Benoit because of Benoit's experience to play up a mini Bret/Austin vibe, where Austin was always coming up short against Bret, spurring him on. I want a segment where Cena is watching some old tapes of Benoit to "scout" him, since they have the WCW footage at their disposal and Cena is Mr. Throwback.

Those were some ugly-ass tights on Benoit, though. He needs to burn those and the ones with the iron-on broken bones and stick with things from his Classic X-Men Collection.

Benoit/Lesnar was absolutley great. It was the battle of the giant torsos. Someone mentioned Brock desperately reaching for the ropes to try to stop the German Suplex sequence, that was great. I epsecially liked Benoit trying several things to force Brock down into the Crossface, putting his tenacity against Brock's freakish strength, and then when he finally beats him down into position, Brock finally pulls a mat-based counter and rolls him out of it. The crowd was crazy into things like the arm bars and other set-up moves in this and Cena/Benoit earlier, which is a good sign. I liked the finish, too, with Benoit kicking out of the F5 from the KO'ed ref, where you'd expect the end to come, and then Brock debuting his new submission move. They have to setting up a submissions match, right? If they build from this match (with Brock knowing at least one way out of the Crossface if he's set up right), I'd like to see the Sharpshooter come into play for a finish.

So anyway, be like this again next week, SmackDown. Thanks. And also have Shannon Moore kill the character of Nathan Jones offscreen, driven to murder rather than face another week of torment by Heyman and his endless supply of giant slow guys. Drama!

Any chance that he can come back before the Rumble and get the Triple H Return Push?
