Right now.

...which would be called "Abre Los Ojos" (or Open Your Eyes).
Being that I made my screenname VanillaSky, I think you could infer that I love the movie. I think that it was one of the most unclassifiable movies of all time. It cannot fit into a single genre. It has elements of sci-fi, romance, and philosophy.
Oh, and in response to dMr, everything after Cruise wakes up on the street to Cruz saying "Open your eyes...". In his real life David woke up alone and just went home. He chose this moment to begin his Lucid Dream because that's when his life had truly hit rock bottom. In his dream, he and Sofia were happy together until he needed "tech support". In his real life, he never saw Sofia again.
Man, how I love that movie. It's got to have one of the best soundtracks of any movie as well. | dMr

See thats exactly what I figured. I pretty much took it at face value and loved it for it.
But then one of my mates swore blind that she thought the whole thing was him being unconcious post car crash and only waking up at the end, and another tried to talk me into believing that the whole thing was some sort of metaphor for his passage to the after life.
I still figure the movie was clever enough without all of that but I keep meaning to go back and watch it again before I dismiss the pair of them for the fools that they most probably are
Edit: Damn, that reminds me. What was the song playing at his wake?

I third Jacob's Ladder. And fourth it if your criteria is "the more of the movie that's a dream, the better"

Good call. That whole "son of God" burden adds a whole new dimension to his fantasy vs. reality worlds, especially since he theoretically has the power to trade one for the other if he desires. | The King of Keith

"Ladies and Gentlemen, We are Floating in Space" by Spiritualized is what you are looking for.
I love the Sigur Ros song they play on top of the building so much. I read that originally Cameron Crowe wanted to use "True Love Waits" by Radiohead for the scene, but Thom Yorke said that the song was too personal for him, so instead let him use "Everything in it's Right Place" and "I Might Be Wrong". | The Red Sox Fan

There's also Dream a Little Dream which is a fairly shitty movie, but does sport both Coreys and Jason Robards, Piper Laurie and Meredith Salenger.
Still, Jacob's Ladder is probably the best choice given here, thus far. | zoggy1

The Family Man - It's a Wonderful Life in reverse Bedazzled - guy gets seven wishes which are all scenarios Spellbound - involves amnesia guy and psychoanalysis, and that famous salvador dali dream sequence

I think that's one way to take it. But at the begining of the movie before he even meets Cruz's character she is the one on his alarm saying "Open your eyes". | Freeway

True, but Noah Taylor [The Tech Support Guy on the roof] mentions that there were problems with his Lucid Dream splicing with his real life, which was why he needed Tech Support in the first place.

| #35 Posted on 4.12.03 1850.47 Reposted on: 4.12.10 1853.56 | A lot of great suggestions here, especially Jacob's Ladder. Anyway, all I could add is a suggestion to take a look at the Darren Aronofsky flicks, Pi and Requiem for a Dream. They've both got dreams and surrealistic imagery which play into the main story, and in the case of the former movie, offer up some foreshadowing for the masses. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
