The Bischoff reign of terror didn't last long! And now Mick is Back as Co-GM to keep him in check. It's all falling into place for Foley's WMXX appearance, if its true he is facing Triple H then he has got plenty of time to build up the feud, and maybe even have a warm-up match against Bischoff at Royal Rumble.

It looks like Stonecold might be back sooner than expected if the 'petition' goes through, but in what capacity?

Its just good to have Foley back [cheap pop]

Meh. Mick's looking good but this is the THIRD time he's appeared in this capacity. Granted Bischoff needs a foil but at this point the phasing out of all authority figures would be a good idea. Let Bischoff stay in the role, but only announce things once a month or so, and always be present for World title matches. The corrupt authority figure thing drew money but it's old now, let it die.

Bischoff would be better served in the type of role he had a few weeks ago as a mouthpiece for a stable. He's a classic heel and instant heat getter that could help out some floundering midcard heels.

It certainly looks like they're setting up Austin/Vince again with Bischoff dissing Vince saying he doesn't need his help then being outsmarted by Foley. It opens the door for Austin to come back, raise hell, then Vince to glue Bischoff's balls back on so he can cut them off yet again by coming onto RAW to stop Austin.

It would be worth it just to see Vince do his "Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye" strut thing he did when he "fired" Bichoff the first time. That was the BEST firing EVAR!

A lot of people seem to say they'd like an end to the storyline authority figures, but really, is that feasible from a storyline perspective? Ideally we'd go back to how things were once upon a time with a Jack Tunney type authority figure who only appeared a.) when an authority figure needed to make a ruling or b.) to make an event or match seem more significant. Would that work? With so many of the heels being built in the "screw authority" mold, reverting to the ways of yesteryear could create some huge inconsistencies in characters. A Tunney-esque figure's authority has to be absolute in order to work. Back in the day, that was fine because the heels did what they were told. With today's guys having a harder edge and a more rebellious nature, I don't know that this would work.

Paul Heyman's character is an example of a heel GM/commish/owner/whatever that works, if only because he is not the focus of his show. He is there, he serves his purpose, but it's not The Paul Heyman Show, rather it is Smackdown (GM'd by Paul Heyman). The difference is presentation. On Raw, you had ten of the top guys at the Survivor Series fighting to settle a feud between two top wrestlers. Granted, it's better than another Redneck Triathalon, but the focus was still Austin/Bischoff rather than on any of the wrestlers. By contrast, Heyman's involvement recently has been primarily to establish that Benoit and Cena are legitimate challengers to Lesnar's title and, out of fear of Brock's retribution, he's trying to keep them from getting title shots. Heyman is a tool to push Brock vs. Benoit and Brock vs. Cena feuds, rather than the booking working the other way around. I guess what I'm saying is that just because an idea is old doesn't mean it doesn't work, it's just a matter of being used properly.

They have already got that in Linda McMahon. She only really appears to bollock Eric Bischoff or Vince and then disappears, and she has the same acting talent as Jack Tunney!

Right, but she is supplemented by GMs on the two shows...and let's be honest, the only person she's allowed to push around is Eric Bischoff, who gets pushed around by just about everyone. I don't buy, say, Kane taking unpleasant instructions from Linda as believable within the context of the storyline.

And may I point out, that for a while this was Stephanie's role on Smackdown too. She wouldn't be seen for weeks on end, and only appeared to make some important ruling or to help advance a storyline.
Then Vince started running roughshot and she got sucked into his storyline..

I agree with BigVitoMark. I think Heyman's GM position has been used very well and he hasn't been the focus of the show. I know everyone doesn't like Heyman, but he's one of the best possible people to have on the mic and can put over guys and storylines through his interviews.

Any idea if Foley has a book coming out soon? Normally, it seems former superstars get good airtime becasue they have something coming out, be it a DVD, a vdeo, book, etc. etc.

I admit that I haven't read Tietam Brown yet, but that's on my list, including WWE's new one, Unscripted.

In an interview on WWE.com, Foley says he's working on his second novel, "Scooter" and hopes it's out summer. A new WWE Kids book will be out in the fall.

I have heard that a new 2-disc Foley DVD is due out early in the new year. I believe it was on that lengthy list of upcoming releases that was sent out about a month ago. No idea on content yet, though.
