I think so. They robbed the Bulls blind in the Rose trade, unless he's the ultimate team cancer that some say he is. | BigVitoMark

I think what T-Mac was bitching about was that in years past, the first round was always a Best Of Five. I think it was the 2002-03 season where the first round went to seven games, so in Tracy's delusional world, they should have went on. | Big Bad

I usually don't like to make lofty and unfair comparisons but I'm gonna make one now. People compare Kobe to some guy named Michael a lot. Maybe it's the swagger, maybe it's the turnaround jumpshot, or it might even be that fucking annoying thing he does with his tongue. But despite popular belief (and some Laker fans beliefs), Kobe ain't Mike Nice. By being too hurt/too out of shape to produce well last year, Shaq basically gave Kobe the wheel and said "you're supposed to be so good, carry the team." It didn't happen. And last years Lakeshow had at least 100 times the talent of the Bulls teams that Jordan shouldered until Pippen and HoGrant emerged to do something other than watch. So for all of his braggadocio, he's not the real deal.
T Mac might be a horrible team player, but so was Jordan. Even the man who many consider to be the greatest player ever to wear compression shorts might have been mired in mediocrity had Phil Jackson not strolled into Chicago. Kobe has Phil now. He had Phil last year when he couldn't carry the load and maintain the discipline of the triangle offense. Give T Mac a chance with a solid, highly regimented coach and there's a good chance he'd be able to carry a team. This is coming from a Lakers fan. | Swordsman Yen

| #19 Posted on 11.12.03 1002.59 Reposted on: 11.12.10 1003.30 | I finally realized last night that Tracy McGrady never ever plays any defense of any kind, something my dad has been trying to tell me forever. And before you say anything about blocked shots, just watch him next time. It's like he's trying to play a zone defense while everyone else is man-to-man.
Last night, he just kinda wondered around in the far corner for awhile waiting for his team to get the ball back. Opposing players were running around behind him setting up plays and he didnt even turn his head to look at them. Then the rebound drops down right next to him and he doesnt even reach for it!

You hit the nail squarely on the head. That's what always bothers me when people say "T-Mac is the best in the game"...or Kobe for that matter. Playing strong defense AND being the "man" (or one of the Top Guys) for your team is becoming a lost art form. Pippen did it best - I still have never figured out why Jordan won all the Defensive Player awards. T-Mac not only thinks he has to carry the team scoring wise, but feels that defense would work better if someone else does it and then gives him the ball on the fast break - hence the reason he doesn't defensively rebound. It's tough to go coast to coast when the other team drops back into a zone - but if one of those teammate chumps would just GRAB the ball, T-Mac is running down court ready to make the crowd go wild with a fast break DUNK!!
and that's how you lose 19 straight and get a good coach shitcanned.
