| #1 Posted on 27.11.03 2100.51 Reposted on: 27.11.10 2100.51 | It's my life, my time, my rights, my rhyme. It's Sssssssssssmackdown!, from Boise State University...and a Fashion Report, too! I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving (or, as you Canadians (and Brits) call it, Thursday).
Damn near EVERYONE, in lots of clothes, surround the ring, wherein Paul, in black suit with blue shirt and yellow tie, speaks. Sorry, everyone except Brock, who now comes out to talk-down everyone else. Heyman books Cena vs. ATrain and Benoit vs. Someone; the faces must win to enter the 20-Man Battle Royale; the winner of THAT will get a match vs. Brock later tonight.
But Brock doesn't wear a bra, nor (so far as we know) panties.
Benoit, in black "Wolverine" wolverine-headed tights, vs. Matt Morgan, in red fullcuts with silver stripes. Nick Patrick wears the blue shirt of the Smackdown! referee. Crossface leads to the submission. Average match.
Cole, in grey sportscoat and white shirt, and Tazz, in tan shirt with maroon shirt and tie, commentate.
In the back, Noble and Nidia interact. Nidia will join commentary for Noble's match.
CG Turkey Cole and Tazz talk. Oh, and The Cat debuts tonight.
Noble, in jean shorts, escorting Nidia, in genuine imitation mock mink coat and huge sunglasses, joining commentary, vs. Akio, in white tshirt and black slacks, with Tajiri, in black pants with flaming left hem, carrying the Cruiserweight Title. Mike Sparks officiates. Nidia low-blows a taunting Tajiri, and that (somehow) distracts Noble, allowing Akio to get the rollup. Average match.
In the lockerroom, Heyman belittles Shannon (and pimps SD! Magazine). And he books Shannon vs. Nathan Jones.
Shannon, already in the ring, in black/red pants with silver diamonds, with taped ribs, vs. Nathan Jones, in red fullcuts with black piping. Jimmy Korderas is the referee. Gutwrench suplex for the pin. Squishy-squash.
FOOTAGE! of the Thanksgiving meal. Cena raps-out lust for all the ladies present. What - no food fight?
In the back, Eddie walks into an injured Chavo (hopped-up on goofballs, no doubt).
Charlie, in silver singlet with red trim, with Shelton, in same, vs. FOOTAGE!, vs. a low-riding neon-green SUV, driven by Eddie, in black sleeveless "Wrestlemania XX" tshirt and red "Latino" tights with black/gold somethings, with Chavo, in black "WW" tshirt with crutch. Hebner is the referee. Eddie steals Chavo's crutch so he can cheat with it, and get the pin. A nice match. Post-match beatdown on Chavo, but Eddie saves, destroying the crutch in the process. Chavo is upset because he NEEDS that crutch (the injured leg and all).
ATrain, in black crested undies (ha, from Mass, again!), with FOOTAGE!, vs. Cena, in red jersey (#73 - Hannon), backwards cap, jean shorts, and lock n chain. Cena wants to rap, but ATrain starts the match. Nick Patrick is the referee. FU for a pin. A nice match.
FOOTAGE! of Holly being indeffinately suspended last week. And then Holly, via satellite, from UPN 44 in Mobile, Alabama, talks.
FroMan (Lamont), in black tux with red bowtie introduces The Cat, in black leather jumpsuit, red shoes and black cap (Damnit, Tazz, stop getting all Fashion-Report-y on me. Just so you know, I called it before Tazz mentioned it.). The Cat dances. Hey, then he dons a sparkly red cape. And then Torrie, in black top and pants with pink waist, is out to dance, too. Fan Fashion - there's three guys cosplaying inmates (at least I hope they're cosplaying).
Damn near Everyone vs. Damn near Everyone (less themselves), in a 20-Man Battle Royale. Of fashion note: Danny Basham is now wearing the gimp mask. Order of Elimination: Johnny the Bull, Ultimo Dragon, Orlando Jordan, Danny Basham, BigShow, *Adbreak occurs; eliminated during the break were: Nathan Jones, Bradshaw*, Scotty 2 Hotty, ATrain, Rhyno, Rikishi, Chuck Palumbo, Charlie Haas, Matt Morgan, Rey Mysterio, Doug Basham, Shelton Benjamin, Eddie Guerrero, and then both Cena AND Benoit go out at the same time. The refs argue, the announcers aruge.
Out comes Brock Lesnar, in black undies with buttskull, wearing the WWE Heavyweight Title, vs. Adbreak. When we return, we STILL don't know who the opponent is. Heyman is out to try to solve this matter. Heyman books Cena vs. Benoit for the Number One Contendership NEXT week. BigShow, Matt Morgan, ATrain, and Nathan Jones come out to beatdown both the faces, elliciting a hearty "Bullshit" chant from the crowd.
Overall: I liked the way they did the battle royale, putting-over both Cena AND Benoit. However, I did NOT like the final segment (and I woulda been pissed if I were at the event, too). The slow (painfully slow) Chavo/Eddie saga continues (to turn slightly darker). Promote this thread! | | Evil Antler God

The Cat thing dragged on forever, but his final spasm only ended by the cape over his head saved it
And damn, y'know, I've never actually even been a fan of Benoit, but he's looking impressive lately
And actually, so did Nathan Jones. And Shannon Moore's actually got a storyline running now, even if it involves him dying every week. It's still a storyline

I was expecting Benoit to win all the way and start his program with Lesnar but I guess they wanna continue pushing Cena so I guess we'll have that for a bit. Don't be surprised that the title shot will be delayed further after the Cena/Benoit match next week. Dunno for how long though. If Cena wins, probably on the week before Armaggeddon. If Benoit wins, probably 'til the Rumble.

Great show, continues the build for Benoit getting his title shot, makes Cena look tough and part of the "in crowd". I really, REALLY wish they could get rid of this Chavo/Eddie feud, Eddie gets nowhere near the pops he did even 2 months ago. They really blew it with him.
I agree that Cat segment went wayyyyyyyyyy too long.
Can someone explain to me why Kanyon and O'Haire are left out of the battle royal but Orlando Jordan, the FBI, and Matt "chickenlegs" Morgan aren't? I still have trouble buying Morgan as a bah gawd hoss when he has the worst case of gym legs I have ever seen. | Gugs

That was Spanky in the turkey costume at the party, wasn't it? At least he got to make a gobbling noise -- that's sort of like a speaking part. Shaniqua dear, if you're going to let Danny take up space at the dinner table, you really need to remove his ball gag. (I assume she'd at least unzipped Doug's hood.)
Shannon's writing something different on his wrist tape now (where he used to write "MF-ER") -- "2BME". Awww. Shannon's doing a great job at getting squashed by Team Sasquatch -- hope he gets to do something else eventually.
I love my DVR -- FF'd right past the Cat/Torrie segment.
This show needs more O'Haire.
Haven't we, fairly recently (within the last couple of years), seen exactly that same finish to another Battle Royal? Including 2 refs, each one saying "his" guy won? Most of it was fine (Except needing more O'Haire.) up til the ending. | Spiraling_Shape

I'm glad I read the spoilers or I might have been annoyed that they hyped a World Title Match for 2 hours then didn't deliver it or a conclusive finish to the battle royal or the Cena/Benoit match.

Actually, back in '00 they had a scenario where Rock and BigShow kinda went out at the same time in the Royal Rumble, but Rock was declared the winner. BigShow used FOOTAGE! to prove that, actually, he was the winner. That lead to the 4-way (Mankind vs. Rock vs. BigShow vs. HHH) at Wrestlemania that year (with a McMahon in every corner).

Big Show tried to throw the Rock over the ropes, but they both fell out. Rock held on to the top rope and pulled himself back over, but his feet actually touched the ground in the process. This probably was accidental, but since somebody would have called them on it, they made an angle out of it. | Net Hack Slasher

| #16 Posted on 1.12.03 1358.43 Reposted on: 1.12.10 1359.01 | Just NOW watched the Smackdown tape. Wasn't really in a wrestling mood this week
-Heyman interview- Highlight of this was when Brock jumped on the apron. Spanky sold a major flinch because he was standing on the apron right next to the ringpost and of course it usually goes off when Brock does that, good thing for Spanky it didn't LoL... Brock singles out Mysterio, BigShow, Cena and Benoit in his in ring chatter. I'd put money on those guys being final 4 (and I'd lose LoL)
-Benoit vs. Morgan- Nothing like getting momentum in going to a World title feud by wrestling Matt Morgan. 3-minute match. Really not much to add. Maybe Benoit shouldn't risk going for the headbutt in every match.
-Akio vs. Noble- One of my favorite segments of the night. Nidia goes to commentary and Cole calls her Noble. Tazz lashes out at him "That's Nidia, what are blind". I like Nidia and Tazz interaction. Her keep saying "Gotta keep me informed". Tazz saying "you missing one hell of a match". Seemed like a good exchange by the two... The match was okay, it was a little on the spotty side but good action nonetheless.
-Jones vs. Moore- Moore get's his ass handed to him once again, maybe Velocity ain't so bad.
-Eddie vs. Haas- Finally a good match even though it clocked in under 4-minutes. Good stuff between the two. Eddie took Chavo crutch and CHEATS TO WIN. But that allowed Chavo to be vulnerable to an attack, Chavo was not to please. But, but Cheat to Win Chavo.
-Cena vs. Albert- Albert's cuts off Cena from doing his rap. See Cena you should have come out first. How do they decide who comes out first?... Well I guess that's another thread. They really did set up Cena going for the FU throughout the match nicely. Third attempt was the charm for the win.
-Cat/Torrie Dance- Cat was kinda was like a guest who overstayed his welcome. The more the segment on the more the fans were like "come on end this already". How many dancing fools do we need on one show. Scotty, Rikishi and now Cat. Two of them are just awful and Scotty is alright I guess... Torrie comes out and shows fantastic character growth but re-introducing lollipop.
-Battle Royal- Never been a fan of the Battle Royal gimmick, usually a kick and punch fest tell it goes down to a handful of guys. Rey seemed like the only one who actually don't some moves in there. Final 4 was Benoit, Cena(double check), Eddie and Benjamin(opps). Surprised no announcer made a point for Sheldon because he's the only one of the four who didn't wrestle on SD. Oh well. Benoit eliminates BOTH Benjamin and Eddie. The Benjamin elimination looked kinda weak. Benoit makes Cena tap out! then get's ready the throw him out but no can Do they both fall out at the same time. A tie!... Well Cena tapped and Benoit eliminated the 3rd & 4th last guy so Benoit wins by points! Right? Wrong, tune in next week for your WWE Title match. Maybe
-OtherStuff- Noble wonders if Nidia is faking her sight problem. Oh come on Jamie. Nidia wants to be out there. And just wants to sit in the broadcast booth and not watch the match. Wow how many commentators does that remind you of LoL. I like Ma Nidia.
-Sign of the Night: "Keep Steph off TV" - How did THAT make it to air!? -Line of the NIght: Tazz "That's Nidia, What are you blind" to Cole -3Stars of the Night: 1)Eddie. 2)Nidia. 3)Haas.
This was not a good week. SD was average at best but it was still better then Raw. Errr Survivor Series week was so good with the PPV to the Amazing Raw to a very good Smackdown. This week overall was not very good... I like the Tajiri/Noble thing still, it still has my interest and the main event picture is pretty interesting with Brock vs. two distinct challengers. A very popular fresh face youngster and a veteran looking at one of his final opportunities for glory. Could be very good stuff there. Rest of the show does little for me | dwaters

I was a Cena fan already, then he has to break out the SWEET retro New England Patriots (my favorite team) jersey of #73 John Hannah. Then he talks in a interview about wearing a Syracuse hat for years (my alma mater). Is Cena sucking up to me or what?
Was "The Cat" ever in the WWE/F to begin with? (announcers: "He's back ladies and gentlemen") What a lame gimmick. Is he supposed be funny? Do today's crowds even get the James Brown reference?
For the whole first segment I SWORE that was Batista standing on the ring apron, but it turned out to be Chuck Palumbo. I forgot about him and how big he is.

1) Everyone to the ring...Heyman talks, battle royal...but Cena/Benoit has to qualify. Ho-hum. Nice to see those who have been stuck in Velocity world for a while.
2) Benoit/Morgan...not much to say...predictable.
3) Akio/Noble...ok match, now I am wondering how long until one of the following happens. A) Nidia turns on Noble and does the "magic healing" trick...which any color announcer proclaims "It's a miracle. She's healed." B) They tend to drop the angle altogether.
4) Moore/Jones...where's Zach Gowen when we need him.
5) Thanksgiving feast...I was surprised that no one ended up wearing their food instead of eating.
6) Haas/Eddie...nice match. How long until Eddie/Chavo rekindle their feud from WCW.
7) Cena/A-Train...I have a feeling that this gimmick has been rekindled by the face turn. Anyway, predictable match.
8) Holly talks...blah blah blah
9) Cat debuts...I hope that goof that's with him is not a manager. They had to put Torrie somewhere on the program...it's her home state, you know. Better than any kind of gravy match or whatever they had for her last Thanksgiving.
10) Battle royal...did anyone expect this. Cena vs Benoit at the end. Stupid ending of a match, followed by a WCW-like (circa NWO days) finish. All that was needed was a can of spray paint and plenty of trash flying to the ring.
I could see people in Boise thinking "We waited so long for a TV taping of any kind and we got this?"
I know I was a little short on words, but I will expand on this tomorrow for RAW.

No, emma's right, there's a very recent example. I'm not surprised no-one remembers, though, there's only one reason I remember: When they were hyping how Goldberg has beaten Big Show, Hogan, etc. HHH said that he's beaten all of those guys too. And I was like, "when the hell did Hunter ever beat Hogan? He lost the undisputed title to Hogan, then Hogan lost it to Taker". I wracked my brains and finally remembered. After Taker took the title from Hogan, there was a battle-royal for a title shot at the next PPV at the beginning of a SD! that ended with a disputed finish between Hogan and HHH. So the authority figure {Vince?} settled it by having a number-one contender's match between the two as the main event that night. HHH won, then went on to lose to Taker at the PPV.
The only differences between the two angles is that last time the battle-royal and the #1 contender match were the same night, and it was for a PPV title shot instead of a free TV shot. Everything else was pretty much exactly the same.
