Honestly....

I don't think this game matters for OU. I still think they won't drop below 2nd in the BCS anyway, even if they lose.

These guys play the biggest cupcake schedule year in and year out. They only played 2 ranked teams all year.

I'm no OU fan, but this is going to be ugly for Kansas State.

I understand the argument of looking past an opponent. I watched the OU-TexTech game (along with LSU-Ole Miss). And Oklahoma didn't even look that focused and they still won by 30... They seem like they can toy around and turn it up at any time. It was 14-10 OU early 2nd, then OU scores 4 straight touchdowns to blow it open. They haven't slipped up yet during the season by overlooking someone, I don't think they are going to start now.

Looking at K-state two conference loses(thanks NickBockFan), they were to Texas and Okla State... Now Oklahoma went to Texas and beat them by over 50 Points! and three weeks later beat Okla State by over 40 points. That's just sick LoL

K-State has one chance: Sub Zero temps in Kansas City on the night of the Big XII title game forces it to be an extremely low scoring game, thus giving K-State at least a punchers chance. Outside of that, Oklahoma hangs half a hundred on them like they have everyone else.

Yeah but, c'mon. Oklahoma State is a top 25 team, just cause they weren't ranked when they played Kansas State doesn't mean they aren't a good team. Missouri was ranked. I think every Big 12 North team was probably ranked at one point, except maybe Iowa State. Plus, USC could be in the national championship, and they've played even less ranked teams.

Did you see the way they killified Nebraska? AT Nebraska! This is a team on a mission. Defense is ranked #5 in the country. Has the most sacks of any team in the country. Yes, Oklahoma's D is #1, but OU's offense hasn't played a top 20 defense yet, let alone #5. Kansas State has played and beaten a (formerly) top 10 defense.

K-State held Brad Smith to less than 20 yards on the ground, at least 3 times less than what he did against OU. They also held him to fewer passing yards than OU did. Not only does that paint a good picture for Kansas State's defense, but OU admittedly has problems with duel-threat quarterbacks, while just a week ago Ell Roberson played the best game he's ever played. He's in the zone.

Plus, there's no presure on Kansas State. PLUS, it'll be like a home game in Kansas City. Plus PLUS, I put a voodoo curse on Jim Ross. It's all falling into place.

You may mock me now, but later you will be like "hey, I'm quite sorry that I mocked you". And I will say "it's all right". And we'll leave it on the field like men.

Disclaimer: I live in the state and am employed by said university.

K-state can win. They should have beaten them in the title game a couple years back. Easy schedule or not, Bill Snyder gets the most out of his talent and knows how to coach. They are on a mission and there is absolutely no pressure on them. Will they win? Probably not but it will be a great game and the Wildcats could just pull it off. The key is their secondary. Its not up to past years but they are playing better. The North division is as tough as the South (no laughing). Eli's tough and Sproles is amazing. they are peaking at the right time. If Eli hadn't been out they could have easily run the table or only lost one. But that's part of the drill. No excuses.

I think it would take some really wierd circumstances for Oklahoma to fall below two in the BCS even if they lose but the mpressure to go undefeated must be incredible. As a Cat backer I still need to say they are a damn good football team.

I'll see in when I believe it. Every year people hype Kansas State like crazy at the beginning of the year and every year they aren't in the National Championship picture at the end of the year. A lot of times they weren't even in the Big 12 Championship picture and they still wouldn't be if it weren't for Nebraska and Colorado's drop off. They just seem to choke in the big games (Colorado and Texas last year, Nebraksa and Oklahoma most of the years before that), and the pathetic non conference isn't going to allow them an extra loss. This streak they're on now isn't all that impressive. Just like last year when they had a streak going down the end of the year. But most teams would have a long streak going if they were playing the Colorados, Kansases Iowa States, Baylors, and even Nebraska the past couple of years to end every season.

So I will never be convinced Kansas State is legit until they prove it and they haven't.

Quezzy, i agree with some of what you said, but. First no big schools are beating the doors down to play the Cats. Lots to lose with little to gain. Just ask USC about last year. But they should get a tougher nonconference schedule.

Nebraska may not be what it once was, however, they hammered K-State hammered them in Lincoln this year and beat them regularly. Same with Colorado. K-State is one of the reasons they aren't as good.

In 2000, I believe, K-State was within a minute or two of beating Oklahoma and being in the BCS. The current streak is for real with as many powder puffs as Oklahoma played. Having said that, I still think that the cats wont win the conference.

I also don't think many can appreciate waht Snyder has done. He came to program voted the worst Div I pogram in history and has turned it around. I think he has the second r third best winning percentage among active coaches. Plus he has to do it wothout being able to recruit a lot of big time recruits since he is in the Little Apple. A nice place to raise a family, but not a big draw for top high school players. He has done it with good, not great, high school players and juco transfers.

That was as questionable a post as has been posted in my day.

"I'll see in when I believe it" - I don't know what that means.

"Every year people hype Kansas State like crazy at the beginning of the year" - but they weren't even ranked at the start of last season.

"A lot of times they weren't even in the Big 12 Championship picture" - but they're tied for first place in Big 12 title game appearances as of this season. Or they're at least real close.

"This streak they're on now isn't all that impressive" - but they'd be undefeated if their star QB hadn't broken his hand, yes it's true. Coming back from adversity to run the table in their division and make the conference championship in a prime-time showdown with the top team in the country is a heroic accomplishment, worthy of epic poems and/or a made-for-TV movie. Starring Hootie as Ell Roberson.

"Just like last year when they had a streak going down the end of the year" - from unranked to finishing at #6 isn't an impressive streak? Do I beg to differ? Yes, I do.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, hey if winning the Championship game 0 out of the 7 years, soon to be 8, is good enough for you, then fine by me.

First of all, I doubt they'd be undefeated with Roberson, maybe they wouldn't have all three losses, but they wouldn't be undefeated. Second of all, if your team is dependent on one player and one player only then you're not a national championship caliber team. You can't depend on one player to win a championship. And theyre streak was against Colorado, Kansas, Iowa State, and Baylor, a combined 16 - 30 (and some of those wins are to the likes of SAM HOUSTON STATE and NORTHERN IOWA). And then they beat two average Missouri and Nebraska teams. 30 or 40 teams could've pulled off that "made-for-TV-movie" caliber streak.

PLEASE! That streak was even LESS impress then this year, they beat exactly ONE team with a winning record.
Baylor 3 - 9 (Those wins were against Samford, Tulsa, Kansas, not exactly tough teams)
Kansas 2 - 10 (They're two wins were SMS, Tulsas)
Iowa State 7 - 7 (wins over Kansas and the mighty Tennessee Tech)
Nebraska 7 - 7 (BIG BIG wins over Troy State, Utah State, and McNeese State)
Missour 5 - 7 (so they beat Ball State, Troy State and Kansas)
Arizona 8 - 6, the only remotely good team they beat
So tell me exactly what's so impressive about that? Again, 30 or 40 teams in the nation, if not more could run off six games in a row against those teams.

MeOW.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, hey if winning the Championship game 0 out of the 7 years, soon to be 8, is good enough for you, then fine by me."

I didn't say it was good enough for me. But what does this have to do with your earlier claim that they're rarely in the conference title picture, which we now know to be untrue?

"and yet they were #5 this year and aren't anywhere near that."

But what does this have to do with your earlier claim that they're "hyped like crazy" EVERY year, which we now know to be untrue?

"Second of all, if your team is dependent on one player and one player only then you're not a national championship caliber team."

But you'd never know that if Ell hadn't gotten hurt and they'd gotten to this point undefeated. Which they would have! Neener neener neener!

"So tell me exactly what's so impressive about that?"

Well, somehow it still put them up at #5-#6 in the country, made them the highest ranked team to just miss the BCS, and made Roberson a pre-season Heisman candidate. But then again, those things were decided upon by people who actually WATCHED THEM PLAY and could determine their skill-level based on a little bit more than the record of their opponent, so clearly none of it is to be taken seriously.

SEADAWG, here's some help for your argument. Sproles. Sproles is an incredible running back, expecially for his size. The guy just gets better as the game goes on. They aren't reliant on just one player. Eli had a good game against Mizzou but Sproles tore it up.

They make the preseason polls regulary and were rated too high this year, mostly because of a secondary not up to Snyder's standards but that has improved. If the QB for Oklahoma goes down, I think we all would see how important he is. Remember the Cats won a couple of games without Eli.

Last year they were a hiccup away from the BCS. Not an excuse because that is what separates the good from the elite programs. But they are close, real close. In a decade they have gone from being a joke to one of the top programs in the country and without the benfit of the history of the Nebraska and Oklahomas.
