Nobody is going to take the title of "coolest mofo walking the earth" away from Jack. Absolutely priceless when he *almost* cracked a smile telling Chase that things were cool, then here comes the sleeperhold.
What did Kyle Singer do to deserve this? He's a good kid. Oh, and congrats on getting out of the heavily guarded mall without a problem.
Some of the good ol' 24-style tension is back: Jack waiting to check out his gun and badge was definitely a heart-racer.

It seems over the last two episodes (and possibly before although i didn't catch it) that there seems to be an extra, non-planned commercial being snuck into the show within the final segment. Last week it was just after Tony got shot, this week it was just as Jack and Salazar (or to steal from TWoP Felipe Hartmano) were breaking out after checking out Jack's gun. Both times there was no clock, no beeping and no slipt screening.
This really pisses me off as it completely messes with the Realtime format and general commercial break style of the show. And for the last two years 24 has been on Global's sister station and this has never happened. I HATE Global!! | David Adams

HOWEVER, I'd really like it if Fox decided to not give away the episode's major plot points in their commercials. I would have been totally blown away about the new Rogue Jack twist, if I hadn't seen it 47 times during Fox's NFL coverage.
Kim and Chase reprising Tony & Michelle's roles from Day 2 doesn't give me a good feeling. Ditto on the Palmer stuff, but we'll see where that leads. They're sure mentioning Sherry quite a bit in these first few episodes. | Tenken347

If everyone thinks that Jack double-crossed CTU by freeing Bucho, then he can stop the terrorist attack all while preserving the country's policy of not negotiating with terrorists. With Jack going undercover and getting hooked on drugs and all of that, they could just paint him as a dirty agent who sold out and changed sides to help these drug dealers.
But if Palmer turns around and helps Jack after he breaks this criminal out of jail, people would figure that Jack was acting on behalf of the government when he did it. And that would be taken as the country having given in to the demands of the terrorists by releasing the prisoner.
So to make it work, Jack's gotta be on his own. Although from the previews it didn't look like he got that far.
EDIT: somewhere down the line I think they could explain a pardon for Jack, or give him one in secret, or something like that. But I think the issue at hand was the immediate time frame of him busting this guy out of jail, and that he'd be a fugitive like Palmer said.

I'm usually not bothered by these, because you get inundated with the ads during the NFC games on FOX Sundays (thank god for Direct TV) and I don't mind a little preview. But, it seemed like the teaser this week gave a huge look into what's going to happen more than ever.
