According to 411, it looks like two upcoming DVD's will cover the best of Mick Foley and Kurt Angle. With the WCW footage that can now be used (and possibly ECW stuff, too), the Foley one should be really good. I'd like to see "Lost in Cleveland" as some sort of extra.

With Kurt Angle's neck problems possibly leading to only a few more years as an active wrestler, this might be a good time to get his video out as well. Just a bonus disk of promos and backstage stuff would be worth it.

Aren't they gonna release a "Best of the Monday Night Wars"? I'm interested to see how they're going to do that one.

Hopefully the Foley DVD will concentrate primarily on his pre-WWF career. I would like to see some of the Foley/Embry stuff from Texas if it is available to them though.

Dear Friends
kind regards
It is good news that they are going to release two DVD's dedicated to Mick Foley and Kurt Angle.
Still I maintain my belief that the WWE should release all of the old WWF videos onto WWE DVD's as this will do great business financially.
They could release the Ultimate Hulk Hogan collection where they combine ALL of the WWF videos of the 90's dedicated to him onto a DVD collection.
They should release the WCW PPV's, clash of the champions and Saturday nights main event episodes onto DVD too.
fingers crossed.
I don't think that Silver Vision will under-estimate the sales of old footage onto DVD.
Of course the newer DVD's sell but so do the older titles too.
I have a problem with people who doubt this fact when it is clearly truth in accordance with statistics.
yours thankfully

I never would have guessed that's how you felt about it.

Anyway, I'd just like some footage of Cactus Jack vs. Big Van Vader and Sting to be on there.

Upcoming DVD List:

11/18 - No Mercy
12/16 - Survivor Series
1/20 - Armageddon
2/10 - Mick Foley
2/10 - Best of Confidential II
2/10 - History of Monday Night Wars
2/24 - Royal Rumble
3/2 - Kurt Angle
3/16 - No Way Out
4/27 - WrestleMania XX
4/29 - Divas in Mexico
5/4 - Backlash

Also looking Amazon, I found these two upcoming non-WWE releases:

11/25 - Dream: American Dream Dusty Rhodes and Turnbuckle Memories Vol. 1

There's no information listed for them but I think I remember reading that someone was releasing old Florida stuff on DVD.

EDIT: The Smashing Machine - The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr is also out on DVD which is a must-see for any fight or wrestling fan. Just a small glimpse into what these guys put themselves through and how they deal with life.

If he only has a couple years left, shouldn't they wait until THEN to release his DVD??

MIKE SWEETSER, I was randomly on a different wrestling forum, and moralman had started an identical thread about releasing DVDs. He's either challenged or part of some great conspiracy.

Pro-wrestling was going along great. Vince decided WWF could use a big show on Monday Night, so as to please the fans. Hence, RAW was born. However, evil WCW decided to try and put WWF out of business, so they put on a show in the same timeslot. Vince was dumbfounded, because he always believed wrestling promoters should be able to play nicely in the sandbox with each other, and never try and hurt another promotion. However, Ted Turner was evil, and wanted McMahon out of business. WCW stole all of WWF's top stars and all of their ideas, as well. WCW was winning the fight via their evil and underhanded dirty tricks, such as giving away the results of RAW and throwing the ever-so-prestigious WWF Women's Title in the trash can. However, with the WWF at it's lowest, they fought back. They presented creative storylines and ideas that intrigued the fans. They pushed Vince McMahon and Steve Austin as top stars, which the fans loved (especially the McMahon part). WCW made stupid decisions like pushing old guys, keeping the young stars like Jericho and Booker T down, and signing guarenteed contracts. Finally, they stole Bret Hart from the WWF. The fans rebelled. They all watched WWF and hated WCW. Vince then proceeded to give Ted Turner a taste of his own medicine, and put WCW out of business, forever. He tried an Invasion angle, but it sucked because the fans refused to accept WCW guys as superstars, despite Vince trying his best to push them as such. Finally, he killed of WCW for the good sake of his company. Today, WWE is as strong as ever, and RAW is the greatest show to ever hit television airwaves.

They should include some of his "Uncle Eric" stuff from ECW, and get Bischoff to comment on it.

Seriously though, the good news about the Foley DVDs is that just about all of his noteworthy WWF/E stuff has already been released on DVD. There's very little else still to be put out, save maybe the two HHH vs. Cactus matches from early 2000 (although I believe those events are on DVD format). They certainly have plenty at their disposal; I'd especially like to see them put it out with Mick's first book in mind. Sure, we've all seen the Undertaker vs. Mankind matches, but how many of us have seen Cactus Jack vs. Yoshi Kwan or the Mikey Whipwreck tag title win?

Actually, both those matches are covered on the Hard Knocks, Cheap Pop DVD, but I'm not sure if they're the full matches or clipped versions now that I think about it.

I just wanted to echo StaggerLee's comments about the ECW Best of Foley DVD. It's almost like reading the ECW chapters from 'Have a Nice Day' in video form. Some really compelling matches and promos there.

If you combine some of that ECW stuff (in all fairness, a true comp tape wouldn't need a lot of the stuff in that one, though it's all good), some WCW highlights (I'm thinking Cactus-Sting Beach Blast and the Vader match from WCW Saturday Night) and the obligatory WWE stuff that can mostly be found on the excellent 'Hard Knocks and Cheap Pops' DVD (Hell In A Cell, Mankind-Michaels, Cactus Jack-HHH, Dude Love-Austin), you'd have a hell of a retrospective there.

So, let's see, so far WWE has or will give the deluxe DVD treatment to: Rock (thinking of that last one they put out), Hogan, Michaels, Flair, Foley and Angle. Who else do they need? I'd suggest:

- Austin (they could use his ECW, WCW stuff here as well, like they kind of did in the 'What?' video_
- Undertaker (same deal, replace 'What?' with 'This Is My Yard')
- Chris Jericho
- Chris Benoit (won't ever happen)
- Eddy Guerrero (same thing; we'll see a 'Best of Shane' comp come out before that)
- Road Warriors
- Roddy Piper (uh, guess that one's kinda not gonna happen now)

Any others I'm missing?

Sadly we will see a Best of Mark Henry DVD before Benoit and Eddie.

Although, I would like to see a "Day in the Life of Rico" DVD. You know not a "Best Of" thing but he seems to have done a lot of things in his life and might make for a good, low priced DVD.

I imagine we'll also see more comps of popular gimmick matches (ie. Best of Ladder Matches, History of Hell in a Cell) before we see DVD comps for the midcard guys like Benoit and Guerrero. I also wouldn't be surprised to see, once some of the guys like Lesnar and Orton get more of a history to them, to see some OVW "Before They Were Stars" collections come out.

Think they could acquire American Gladiators footage for that "Day in the Life of Rico" DVD?

With Austin, they should compile all his old videos on DVD and add a new one with old ECW and WCW footage. All of his videos were really well produced. ('Cause Stone Cold Said So, Austin 3:16 Uncensored, Hell Yeah, Austin vs McMahon, Lord of the Ring, and What?) Each of them is only 60 minutes long so you could put a couple on one DVD.

The problem with Austin's stuff though is that there would be a hell of a lot of blurring necessary.

Hopefully, Vinnie gets around to doing the Bret Hart DVD and doing it like Flair's. 3 Discs. The Hart Foundation Years, the I-C Title Years, and the WWF Champion years.

BigVitoMark: Go here http://www.vcientertainment.com/wrestlinggold/ and Cornette's released a DVD called "Wrestling's Future Stars" which has footage of all the guys like Lesnar, Benjamin, Cena, Orton, Rico, Leviathan, etc from OVW.

OMEGA, yeah... that's pretty much exactly what WWE's spin on WCW has been for years. I can't imagine a Best of the Monday Night Wars DVD that would be anything but completely partisan. The WWF spent about six months during the Invasion angle pushing the WCW superstars as 25 guys who couldn't wrestle their way out of a paper bag. And their nWo: Back in Black DVD, while it showed a few important matches, demonstrated an almost complete lack of understanding regarding context.

“This happened, and then that happened, and then that and that and that.” Yeah, but War Games 1996 was influenced by the fact that there was a fake Sting going around, beating up Sting's friends, and nobody believed the real Sting when he said it wasn't him. The announcers during War Games only gave part of that story, and you had to imply the rest of it. What would've been wrong with going into more detail?

And let's not forget the two- or three-year gap in nWo coverage. There was War Games 1996, and then all these guys joined, and then WCW folded and the three original members joined the WWF. Uh... thanks, guys.

Anyway... I wrote all that to make the point that even if WWE did do a non-partisan Best of the Monday Night Wars DVD, they'd still have to try and provide better context for the matches than they have in the past.

Regarding future WWE DVDs... I'd really love to see a complete WrestleMania I-XX box set (or the release of each of them individually), perhaps coinciding with the individual release of WrestleMania XX. But don't skimp on the special features, guys!
